“It is not down in any map; true places never are.” – Herman Melville. There was something like the above quote which happened with us recently. On one saturday night, I was feeling like going out to somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the peace and quietness of the nature. Like always, my husband agreed on this as we both love travelling and exploring new places. The question was that we didn't know where to head to but we were quite sure that it should be somewhere near bangalore only. So, we took our car out and went to our friend's house. After chitchatting for sometime on where to plan our night trip, we decided to go to Kolar highway as it has some pretty good cafe's with the scenic view along the road and the place is not much explored among bangalorians. After few rounds of dumb charades and then dinner, we started from our place (Whitefield) at around 12:30 pm.
Kolar highway is around 40-50 km from bangalore city. There are many cafe's (popular among them is Cafe Coffee Day, Kolar highway runs 24/7), restaurants (Empire runs till 3 am) and hookah places nearby that run till early morning. The road to Kolar highway is awesome. We reached within 30 minutes from Bangalore.
After hopping around nearby restaurants and tasting their food, we finally settled down at Cafe coffee day around 4am. At this time, we finally got the table in the open space which we couldn't find in the initial because of rush! The feel at this time was amazing. Sitting under the open sky, enjoying the cool breezes, with the feeling of calmness and peace in the atmosphere away from the IT life, what else one could ask for? After spending some quality time together, we searched for the nearby places to visit around.
We came across a place called "Chota ladakh" which was within a few kms from there. We have not visited Ladakh earlier and it was on top of our bucket list, so we were excited to visit that place and also it has got amazing google reviews.
It was 6 am in the morning when we started from the cafe. Initially, we faced some difficulty reaching the place since Google maps doesn't have appropriate route to this place. But, after taking help from locals, we parked our car near "Chota ladakh" (we still couldn't see it from there) . We literally walked and explored places around to reach this place. It was worth going through the village and farm lands to this place.
After enjoying there and getting some pictures clicked, we decided to go back since it started getting sunny. Now we could easily find our car as we got familiar with the route and it was 5 mins away.
While returning back, we stopped at a punjabi dhaba to eat some parathas as it was breakfast time! The parathas here were amazing, we haven't experienced such taste from long time!
And that's it!!! It was an amazing short night trip to Kolar highway that we will remember forever and would like to visit there again for the amazing food and the beautiful places it offers!
Happy travelling!! 🌍
