We had a flight to catch at 3.55 pm from Hyderabad to bangalore..our flight was little delayed due to rains which resulted in our late arrival at Bangalore:p..we booked an innova as we were seven ppl and our frustrated driver was already waiting for us(he was more like a strict military guy:/)..we had dinner at some randomn dhaba which was kind of gross and started our journey to coorg..it was already midnight and the roads were pretty bad.after travelling halfway, there was fog all around and that felt like 100% oxygen pampering my cheeks..by the time we reached nisargadhama ,it was already 1.30am and our night stay was at casiita coorg which costed us around 7000 bucks and it was not worth the money ..we had to book costly accomodations as our trip was planned just 3 days prior and all the homestays were prebooked!!
We had to wake up too early in the morning as we were told that it was the best time to visit MANDHALPATTI..trust me,donot miss this location on ur trip to coorg because it was heavenly!!..you have to book a jeep to get there as the road is very bad but you wont regret spending few bucks over this..we were the first to reach there and got to witness the magical sunrise scene and the beautiful cloudy affair!!..we got enough time to snap some profile worthy pictures and went on a small trek to hill top to get a clear view of landscape (the dogs over there were very friendly :p)..
And then we went back to our vehicle and started to coorg..the road was full of beautiful sceneries and we got to visit the famous ABBEY FALLS which i felt were a little overrated(might be due to wrong season)..and a view point(RAJA'S SEAT),museum ..it was noon by this time and as we prebooked our package with THRILLOPHILIA..we had lunch ready to feed on ..this was a camping experience and the best time spent on our whole trip was at this camp..CIVET CREAK CAMP was the name and the road was horrible,we actually thought that we missed our way but some randomn villager guided us there...it was already pastnoon and the cook bahadur was eagerly waiting for us..their cat kanha welcomed us and she was my best mate until next day!!..following lunch we went on a trek to private waterfalls within the camp and it was a great experience but remember to take good shoes and insect repellants along ..some local guide accompanied us to the trek . we spent that night at camp, bahadur arranged camp fire and delicious food..forgot to mention, one of the best things about coorg is you get to taste the best wine there .the bathrooms were very clean and also had a manually operated water heater, the owner of camp was there when we visited the camp and he was really good to us!!
The expenditure for day was around 2000 each.
Woke up to the best climate and there were coffee plantations surrounding the camp..as it was flowering season, the place turned out to be more magical..we had our breakfast, bid goodbye to bahadur and kanha and then went back to NUSARGADHAMA.nisargadhama was closed due to some renovations going on .so,we had to leave to NAMDROLING MONASTERY. It was a really peaceful place with all the monks chanting 'om mani pae mae hun'..the architecture was beautiful but the scorching sun made it a lil painful..following this,we reached DUBARE ELEPHANT CAMP..it was mid noon by this time and we took a rafting trip which turned out to be awful and complete waste of money (i mean,u could literally walk through the waters there)..but the location was good,as it was afternoon we couldn't get to watch the elephants bathing..remember to reach the place by 10am when you go there..we spontaneously planned to visit IRUPPU FALLS..which were on our way to nagarhole and hurried to be there on time..but to our disappointment, the place was closed due to rains and the guards didn't allow us to get there..with heavy hearts:p,we had some sugarcane juice there and started our journey to nagarhole..reached STAY SIMPLE BUSON MANOR RESORT by evening and had great time there.the manager was there when we visited and he took us on a lil ride through the property. It was the first biggest house to be built in coorg and still has all the antiques for us to look at .the bathrooms were great and you get to eat the best pork curry there!!we didnt get to book the online safari tickets and were a little worried about the next day..the manager told us that there were only two jeeps to be allowed on safari and the remaining people have to take bus which is not that satisfactory..we requested him to try to book that jeeps for us but got to know they were already booked!!.....
We woke up early in the morning and were told that this is not the correct season to go on this safari as there are very less chances of sighting animals...even then,we decided to take the trip.went there and waited for the ticket counters to open(there are limited tickets..so its important to be there in time)..we requested the forestery people like anything,to get us some place in jeeps and luckily one jeep with professional photographers agreed to take us ..we paid around 1200 bucks each for this but believe me..it was the best safari i winessed in my entire life..there were sightings of elephants, tigers, leopard, rare birds and hundreds of deers..there was fog all around finely caressing my face and happy tears actually rolled down my cheeks..when u visit some places, you get to know the actual meaning of life..after a long safari of 4 hours,we went back to resort and left back to bangalore after breakfast..the road was awesome and we had to be fast to catch our bus back to hyderabad..on the way,we stopped for lunch at some dhaba and by 5.30 we caught the bus!!..we were all exhausted by this time and slept like logs the whole night..this trip was awesome and we were carrying whole lot of memories and few wine bottles back home!!:):)
