Beach trek at Gokarna,jog falls & Sahasralinga visit

Gokarna Beach:

Apart from Shiv temple, Gokarna is famous for its beautiful beaches and landscapes. The main beaches in Gokarna are the Gokarna beach, Kudle Beach, Om Beach, Half-moon Beach and Paradise Beach. The Gokarna beach forms the coast of the town while the other four beaches lie to the south of Gokarna. Kudle and Om are around 6 km from Gokarna town along a muddy hill; they are accessible by rickshaw or foot. Half-moon and Paradise are beyond Om beach and are accessible only by foot or boat. Om beach is named so because it is shaped like the auspicious Om symbol. Om beach is the only naturally Om shaped beach. Two other beaches – Paradise and Half Moon – are smaller and remote beaches.

How we reached?

We as a 22 members group(Cognoventure) started to Hubli from Hyderabad.From Hubli we boarded a private vehicle to gokarna.After setting up all the things we started the trek at kudle beach and walk through the beach sand flanked by rocky hills on one side,walking along the coast with milky waves kissing our feet,cool drizzling weather revitalizing our minds.After 5kms of trek we reached Om beach! The beach owes its name to the sacred symbol it looks like.we had some hot cup of tea in hotel NIRVANA and played in the sand drenched ourselves in the waves for 2hrs and then we started pitching tents in a safe distance from the coast had our dinner and made campfire with lot of effort due to heavy winds and rain.At 2Am we started to jog falls in our vehicle.We reached at morning 6Am got refreshed and enjoyed the breathtaking view of Jog falls got ourselves clicked with some memories and then we headed back to sahasralinga.

Jog Falls:

Jog Falls are located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Four cascades, known as Raja, Rani, Rover and Rocket merge to form the huge waterfall on the Sharavathi River. The falls are locally known as Geruoppe Falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi. Jog itself is a Kannada word, which means falls.

Sahasralinga:

A pilgrimage site located in the Sirsi district of Karnataka, Sahasralinga is in the middle of the Shalmala river. What’s special about the place is the sheer number of shiv lingas carved into the stones. Sahasralinga means thousand lingas in Sanskrit. During Shivratri, when the water level in the river is lower, it reveals the shiv lingas and pilgrims throng the place to offer their prayers.

With pretty good memories in our trek we returned to Hyderabad.I can honestly say that it was a good distraction to us from sitting in office and slogging our way through boring Excel sheets.
