Intro:
Kurinjal Peak, located in the Kudremukh National Park, is one of the must-go places for all trekkers out there. It's a 14km trek, both side included. The peak is 1159m height as per the authorities there. The location is attached in this post, so that people find it easier to find it out.
Details:
We started the trek at around 5:00am from our places and after fetching everyone in our vehicle, we had our breakfast in Karkala at 6:30am. It took us around 2:30hrs to reach the starting point. Before entering the forest area, one needs to take a letter in the checkpost. Tell the policemen that you are going to Kurinjal Trek, or else there will be problems. Once this is done, we reached the starting point of the trek, i.e, a spot near Bhagavathi Nature camp (location attached). Here, one needs to give the headcount of the number of people going for the trek to the policemen and pay Rs.500 for each person.
P.S.: Photocopy of ID proof (Adhaar card preferred ) of each and everyone is compulsory, failing to which you are not allowed to trek.
Once the registration is done, they will assign a guide for each teams and the guide will take you to the peak. We started the trek at 9:30am. We could make it to the peak at 11:45am which included many photoshoots in between. We had our lunch in the peak and had some good photos with memories.
P.S.: It is advisable to carry food for you and the guide, as no foodstalls or houses are found in between and please donot litter in the peak.
After all these, we started climbing downhill at 12:45pm. In between there's a waterfall. If you ask the guide to take you there, he'll surely take you. We did not have enough time, and hence we couldn't go. We reached the point where we started at 2:45pm. It was wonderful trek, a bit sunny though.
Tips:
1) Take this trek in winter or in low rainy season, so that the views would be more better. 2) Photocopy of the ID proof is a must. 3) Contact Aadham(+919686981765), a forest officer there if you need more information. 4) As usual, leeches are a common friend there. Take dettol or salt along with you to be safe.
Enjoyy... Have a nice day...
