Kolar is well known for the trekkers from Bengaluru for a great destination known as Antargange. But have you visited the KGF which is about 30km far from Kolar town. KGF does not need any introduction, courtesy "The Rocky Vai" (Yash), who set the screen on fire in 2018 both in sandalwood as well as in bollywood.
It was a relaxed sunday morning, I took out my bike for a spin, and ending up with a sunday ride. Destination was not decided as always, after crossing the Hoskote toll plaza, I first notice one milestone denoted K.G.F. For those who does not know yet KGF is the abbreviation of Kolar Gold Fields, which closed it operation more than five decades ago.
I took the usual road, as it is beautiful and well maintained from Bangalore to Kolar. The road and some scenic beauty will definitely make you stop your ride for couple of times and enjoy the views.
I must say while going your eyes will definitely stuck to one very unusual scenery at Narsapura just before entering Kolar.
The lake was absolutely coloured in very unusual way. I don't think it is because of any natural cause but my assumption was due to some anthropological reason, like industry of some sort.
From Kolar to Bangarpet, & from there KGF. I took a quick tea break at Bangarpet. The first thing I noticed entering KGF was the BEML Nagar, which is well maintained and clean. Following the road signs and asking the locals I finally reached to the KGF shooting spot. The ruins of the set was there. The production team should have cleared the set after the shooting. But any way I got a chance to witness the set of the KGF.
This was a fun day no doubt. Although it was terribly hot but the view from the top was something to rejoice. The whole KGF was visible from the top of this small man made high planes.
I thought may be this is it I will head back now, but I see a way to take my bike over the high planes, so I took it. The path was just beside the old KGF extraction unit (I am not sure, it looked like one).
Took the bike on the top have some fun with the bikes in that trail. This was more fun indeed. Sliding, gliding, and finally rejoicing the moment from the top.
Finally I come down with a smiling face and head back towards the Kolar town. It was a small town with a very distinct local vibes in it. I had my lunch at Sahana Darshini, a south indian thali was enough for me to console my appetite. But my riding appetite was not filled. It was a very small ride to challenge that I took a miserable idea, which costs me a lot. I took the road towards Devanahalli. I know I am an idiot, there no need any proof 😒. Please don't judge me. The road was not good. Full of bad patches, finally after 2-3 hrs I finally entered the Hyderabad-Bengaluru expressway. One interesting thing happened near Vijayapura, some local boys were trying to pick tamarind by throwing stones, which triggered my childhood memories, I joined them too. I spend half an hour there, although my kannada is very bad, but they did not mind to have some little chat with me, I ate 2 full tamarind...😜 and get back to the road.
From Devanahalli it was a smooth ride, I get back to my place within an hour from Devanahalli without any break.
The biggest takeway of the journey was some experience it might not be breath taking view or amazing food. But all these small journey makes you prepare for a bigger picture. The ride is not about the bike you are riding or it is about the rider, you, how you are riding. For me it was just a 150 cc motorcycle. I made it. You will made it too.
Enjoy your ride, enjoy your day. Ride safe. Wear helmets always...
See you...✌
