We have our family trips every year with cousins and 2019 we decided to visit Coorg. We visited Coorg from Chennai, we booked Shatabdi Express till Mysore and did a quick tour of Mysore palace before we headed to Coorg. Booked a tempo traveler since we were a group of 10 people. We reached Coorg by late evening and settled down at our homestay for dinner.
We had a hearty breakfast at our homestay and headed to Namdroling Monastery Golden Temple, Kaveri Nisargadhama Forest Park. Both places you can spend about 1-2 hours, especially the park is a good place to spend time with family. We even went down and stayed in the river stream inside the park for few minutes. There are kids area and they also have some zip lines we tried. We had lunch and then visited Dubare elephant camp. We wanted to go for river rafting there but it was almost closing time so we couldn't get a boat.
Next day we visited TalaKaveri, Triveni Sangam, Bhagandeswara temple and Raja seat. Talakaveri is the starting point of river Kaveri and they have built a temple for it. You would need walk up hill and then visit the temple as the vehicles would be stopped at some point. And again you would need climb few steps to visit the Talakaveri. After that we went to Bhagandeswara temple and Triveni Sangam where you can see 3 rivers merging. You can get into the river for few steps and it was good to stay in the river for sometime in the cold waters.
We also visited Raja seat which is a view point and also has a park
We visited local shops to buy some spices which is famous at Coorg
Last day we wrapped up our stay at Coorg after breakfast and traveled back to Mysore to catch our train to Chennai. We did some Mysore silk shopping at Mysore before we got into our train.
The main highlight of our stay at Coorg is the homestay called Taimane Stay which we booked through Airbnb (I dont have much pics of the homestay but you can find it in their Airbnb link) Mr. Akarshan and his family are the perfect host. We couldnt meet Mr. Akarshan but his mom and dad made sure all our needs are satisfied. Especially Aunty's food was out of the world. The house is also set up in the middle of the coffee estate and they also have a farm nearby which Uncle can give you a tour. They also have dogs, chicken, ducks, cow at their home. We would def stay here whenever we visit Coorg only for Taimane stay for the ambience and food. Even if you dont want to visit places, you could just chill at the homestay and relax.
