What does a day out in Bangalore as a tourist look like? With family visiting us, we decided to spend a day in the old Basavanagudi Area and visit some of the most famous temples in Bengaluru.
STOP 1: Vidyarthi Bhavan
We all went by metro ,and got down at National College metro station. From there, we took a auto to Vidyarthi Bhavan, an iconic eatery in Bangalore. It dates back to pre-independence and has a limited but superb tasting south Indian menu.
STOP 2: Bull Temple
From here, we took an auto to Bull Temple(around 1 km away). It is an ancient temple, and there is an interesting story associated with it. It is believed that the temple was built to appease a wild bull that was destroying the crops of groundnut in the region.
STOP 3: Bugle Rock Park
Bugle Rock Park is located just next to Bull Temple. There is a huge prehistoric rock with a watchtower on top which is the main attraction. If you look at the trees, you'll also find many bars hanging on them.
STOP 4: Dodda Ganapati Temple
Dodda Ganapati Temple has a huge idol of Lord Ganesha, which is covered with more than 100kg of butter. It is located just 100-200 m from Bull Temple, and is a must visit place.
OTHER PLACES TO VISIT NEARBY
If you are planning for a full day out, then you can also include Gavi Gandhareshwara Temple and Lalbagh Gardens in your itinerary.
So that was our day out as a tourist in Bangalore. What's your latest travel story? Share with us on Tripoto!!
