A part of beautiful state called God's Own Country, is the coastal town Kannur.
If you are in Bangalore, you are just 311 KM away from the most mesmerizing beaches of India.
Post dinner board a bus from Bangalore and before breakfast you are in this clean and beautiful town Kannur.
I always want to stay very near to the beach and I found this awesome property Mascot Beach Resort, situated just near to Baby Beach on a cliff with the view of the Light House. This property is so close to the beach that you will literally hear the sound of waves hitting the rocks. http://mascotresort.com/
If you like trying new cuisines, try experimenting with the Kerala cuisines in the small cafes around the town.
I started the day with Putto with Chikpea Curry. It is Kerala's traditional breakfast. Putto is Rice steamed cake that is usually served with Kadala (black chickpeas/kala chana)
The Mascot beach resort is just 200 meters away from the Baby beach. But the beach is situated inside the Army Cantonment area so it is prohibited for public to go inside the Army area.
Hence we could not make it to Baby beach. The entire area is so clean and well maintained, that it is worth a walk.
After a delicious breakfast,I headed to Payyambalam Beach which is situated 4 Km away.
St. Angelo fort is 6 KM from Payyambalam Beach.
St. Angelo Fort, facing the Arabian Sea was constructed in the land granted to Vasco Da Gama by the Kolathiri King in the Year 1498. The Construction of the Fort was completed by 1505.
A walk on the way back from the Fort was a blessing. The view of old trees down the road was a treat to the eyes.
It was a winter evening, and all I wanted was a hot soupy noodle bowl.
The next morning, I headed to Meenkunnu Beach. Wow !! what a way to get into the beach.
After spending a peaceful time at Meenkunnu Beach, I got back and had a power Lunch at the hotel.
Post lunch I headed to Muzhuppilangad Drive-in Beach which is situated 15 KM from Kannur town. I took a local bus which costed me 25 INR
Muzhuppilangad beach is a 4 km stretch of sand and drive along with the view of the beautiful Malabar Coast.
I enjoyed munching on delicacies from a number of shacks that offer authentic Malabar cuisine.
I took an evening walk till the Bus stop after coffee and snacks.
It took 30 minutes to reach Kannur Town and the same night boarded a bus back to Bangalore.
Kannur is all worth for a budget and hassle-free weekend gateway.
