The stunning Jog Falls in Karnataka may soon be headed for an adventurous uplift! The tourism department of Karnataka seems ready to bring zip-lining to the spot where River Sharavathi plunges from a height of 830 feet. If this idea takes shape, the already amazing waterfalls will definitely turn into a sight to behold!
Sources report that the Jog Management Authority has plans to introduce zip-lining from the British Bungalow viewpoint to the viewpoint near the main entrance gate of the falls. With the introduction of zip-lining, tourists will get the chance to relish surreal views of the waterfalls and Sharavathi River Valley, all the while soaring through the skies. There’s a huge possibility that zip-lining will give visitors access to places that were earlier inaccessible.
Reports suggest that the project is likely to kick-start after the monsoons end. With three parallel zip line cables planned for the place, this initiative is expected to pull in good number of crowds. Operations are expected to start by June 2020.
Recently, a preliminary technical survey concluded that testing soil strength and studying the movement patterns of wind will help this process. Furthermore, spots have been finalised where decks and pillars would be installed for the operation of zip lines. The estimated cost for the entire setup would be around Rs 60 lakh.
In addition, the Jog Management Authority has plans to add a food court, additional parking slots, children’s park, and a toilet complex as well. Cost for the entire project is estimated around 10 crore. All that’s keeping things on hold now is the government’s approval but we hope that that will come through soon.
