BHULESHWAR

Tripoto

Bhuleshwar hosts a very famous hindu temple of Lord Shiva. The temple, situated on a hill was built in the 13th century, during the period of 1230AD by Chola Rulers.

This temple has a great mythological and historical significance. It is said that Parvati danced for Lord Shiva here, and from here they went to Kailash & got married.

If we see its history,it was originally a fort called as ‘Mangalgadh’ built by Murar Jagdev in 1634 (only the temple was built during 1230AD).

The temple is built with a special kind of Black Basalt rock. There are lots of carvings on the walls depicting various gods and goddesses which makes the temple a place to visit. Also the speciality of the temple is that if the sweets put below the Shivaling disappear, it is said that your wish will be surely granted by Lord Shiva! This acts as a major attraction for all the devotees of lord Shiva!

Bhuleshwar is a place to go for all history lovers too, not only because of the ancient temple but also as it has stories of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj stayed at the temple.

The only drawback being that it does not offer any good eateries & so we have to carry our own food & water. In short, Bhuleshwar makes an interesting short trip destination!

WAY TO GO: Bhuleshwar is situated at around 55km from Pune.

You can reach Bhuleshwar by two ways.
