Ladakh also known as the land of high passes is present in the region of Jammu and Kashmir. The climate here can be deceiving because although the place is bound by snow the temperatures can be high during noon and low at night. It is sweltering hot or freezing cold. The best time for trekking is during the month of May to August. After-all it is a desert so warm winds during daytime are as common as the friendly people who are ready to guide you around. Yes, the monks and children are very helpful and generous, they wouldn't hesitate to share their experiences! You can always find mountains surrounding you and they are so huge that even the tallest person on Earth would be intimidated by these mountains! After visiting the common tourist attractions like the Shanti-Stupa a few monasteries and lakes you can stroll around the streets and give your taste buds a treat. Veg or Non-veg you have variety of food to indulge in, starting from the common momos to thupka (noodle-soup) it all tastes delicious! In the end you can always spare time to shop in the local markets, and for fun you can buy the common and famous t-shirt of Ladakh for your friends, that reads "My friend was in Ladakh and all i got was this Stupid T-shirt!" and many more witty quoted t-shirts. And for all those people who are planning to visit Ladakh especially for you are these common phrases:
1. Jullay- hello (the most common greeting, you are surely to hear this word in Ladakh so why not use it yourself?)
2. Konyay chee mola rak lay- Please say in English
3. Gnya hamago (lay)-i dont understand
Hope it helps.. ;) :P Enjoy your next trip to Ladakh! There are 10% chances that you might find some or the other movie stars' shooting going on in the nearby places. If you are lucky enough you might even meet one (P.S.- I met Arjun Rampal in a hotel near ours!).
