Trip to Doodhpathri (Kashmir)

About Doodhpathri - Situated at an altitude of 8,957 ft above sea level; Doodhpathri is a gorgeous green meadow surrounded by pine trees and views of lofty snow capped mountains, it is indeed an unmatched tourist destination in Kashmir.

The moment you reach Doodhpathri, the first sight you see is the vast meadow. You can walk around in the meadow and enjoy the natural beauty of the place.

Travel: Distance from Srinagar to Doodhpathri is around 45 km. The ideal route to travel to Doodhpathri from Srinagar i.e. Srinagar - Badgam - Khan Sahib - Doodhpathri.

Experience: We left from Srinagar early morning but were misdirected by Google maps to use a different route where the roads were narrow and in a bad condition. However, we managed to reach the destination.

Before entering the Doodhpathri gate, we halted at one of the food stalls and came across variety of local Kashmiri food being prepared.

Mr. Faiz Ahmed and his wife have been running the stall from 6 years. We tried Kashmiri Saso Da Saag and Makki Di Roti and Kashmiri Kahwa. It was delicious and quite natural, we enjoyed the food and proceeded towards Doodhpathri.

We did a Pony ride which was ok, one can trek via the road to Shaliganga river point it would take 1-2 hours but the trekking level is easy to moderate. Trekking is better as one can capture mesmerizing views compared to Pony ride. Our travel experience was good overall; sharing some pics.

We then travelled back to Srinagar for the night stay.
