Sangam – Ladakh’s confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers

The Sangam (confluence) of the Indus (Sindhu) and Zanskar rivers is located near Nimmu on the Leh-Srinagar route.

The Zanskar river, which flows from the Zanskar valley in the Union Territory of Ladakh, joins the Indus river near Nimmu, providing visitors with a magnificent vista. The Indus is Ladakh’s lifeline, irrigating the valley’s arid terrain.

A significant number of people visit Sangam site to take in the natural splendour. This is also a river rafting location where thrill seekers gather to enjoy the excitement of river rafting.

At Sangam point, the dirty water of one river joins the turquoise waters of another, creating a stunning picture.

A new route, Manali – Darcha – Shinkula pass – Padum (Zanskar Valley) – Nimmu, is being built and will connect to the Leh-Srinagar motorway at Sangam.
