Are you ready to embark on a spiritual adventure that will take you to the divine goddess Durga's abode in the majestic Paddar valley of J&K? If yes, then you can't afford to miss the annual Machail Mata Yatra, a 43-day-long pilgrimage that attracts thousands of devotees from all over India. The Yatra will begin on 25th July 2023 and end on 5th September 2023. Here is everything you need to know about this sacred journey.

How to Reach Machail Mata Temple

The Machail Mata Temple is tucked in a quaint village, 30 km from Gulabgarh, the Yatra's base camp. You can drive to Gulabgarh from Jammu, 280 km away. From there, you can:

1. Hike along a scenic track with views of the valley and the Chenab River.

2. Fly by helicopter from Kishtwar, Gulabgarh, or Machail. Book your tickets online beforehand.

3. Rent a palki or a pony if you can't walk or have any physical issues.

Where to Stay During the Yatra

You don't have to worry about accommodation during the Yatra as plenty of options are available for pilgrims. At Gulabgarh, you can stay at the Yatri Bhawan, which fits up to 2000 people or opt for homestays along the route.

Pilgrims can also bunk at Machail Mata Bhawan, where they can cosy up in a mushroom tent city and snooze under the stars only to wake up to the sounds of bells and godly chants.
