How did I Reach To Srinagar?
I reached Jammu and from there I took shared taxi from Jammu Bus Stand which would take you around 15 Minutes from railway station. Cost of shared taxi would vary from Rs 1000 - 1500 depending upon the season you are visiting Srinagar. It would take you around 6-10 hours from Jammu to Srinagar depending upon the traffic. In my case it was around 9 hours as there would be two one way tunnel coming en-route which would have more traffic.
I reached Srinagar by late night and fortunately I booked hotel through OYO which cost me around Rs 1200 for one night.
I was very young when I saw Mission Kashmir movie and I always wanted to visit Shikara house boat and roam around dal lake. I took auto from road and asked him to drop me by dal lake. Once you reach Dal Lake, you will find hundred of option depending upon your budget. Average cost of boat will be between Rs 500- 800 with three to four hour of journey.
If you are from south, you would definitely spend more than three hour in Dal lake as you can't stop yourself to capture all the beautiful scenic beauty.
Once you are done with the Shikara House Boat - head toward Shankaracharya temple ( Shiv Temple )
Take an auto from Dal Lake and it would cost you around Rs 250 up and down both. It will only take 15-20 minutes to reach to the temple.
My next destination was Shalimar Mughal Garden which would take you around again 20 minutes from Shankaracharya temple.
One of the best garden in India with plenty of different kind of flowers and the smell & aroma inside the garden would be one of the best experience of your.
Overall my first day experience in Srinagar was pretty awesome as I came with no expectations but taking back very good memories from Srinagar.
