Our excitement levels pumped high as we made our way up towards Gulmarg - it was all white! The whole path covered with snow capped mountains. Ice on the Cake was to witness snowfall. When we started from Srinagar hotel, we came to know from our driver was its snowing and weather is not good. We were so scared and excited as well. Scared because we thought if Gandola ride will get cancel due to heavy snowfall risk then our while Kashmir trip will go in vein. At one point need to change the vehicle as only vehicles which are tied with chains on the tyres can go above else vehicle will skid in snows. We changed our vehicle and rented out the snow boot and long thick jackets to protect from heavy cold and started our journey. Oh My God, you will not believe the views were getting better and better as we were driving up. To witness snowfall was a magical thing and the views were breathtaking. the beauty and the view what your eyes will capture cameras cant do justice by god.

After reaching the top of Gulmarg, you will find number of sledge cart helpers attired traditionally, in firan with kangdi within firan, few of them puffing away hookah to keep them warm inside. Instead of taking guides we decided to explore the place snow-trekking, climbing the mountains all by ourselves.

Gondola ride was one of most memorable experience of my life giving you a perfect view of the snow capped mountains and its surroundings once the cable car advances to the top of the summit. The one at Gulmarg is the highest Gondola ride in the whole of Asia (12000 feet) and second highest in the world.

It has the World’s highest (8700 feet) Golf Course. The skiing slopes known as Marry Shoulder is supposed to be one of the best in the world. The first phase Khilanmarg (Kungdoori) of the Gondola ride hypnotized us to a magical valley of snow w/blue clear sky on top. The bright blue sky and the pristine white snow was reflecting intense light; enough to make us blind. As we visited in January coz of heavy snowfall ,2nd phase of Gandola ride was closed. It was heaven-beautiful and serene- pure and white, on top of the world with dark bellied clouds hovering all over the mighty Himalayas.
