Yes, you heard it right!

This is a story of 2018 summer's when I planned a 3 months bikepacking trip around stunning mountains of Ladakh on an easiest mode of transport..Cycle. No car, no lift and no engine. Only sky in sight and peaks in mind.

Touring is better on cycle.

Because every detail is important..

Initially, we were three friends who joined for this epic journey but somehow due to some unforeseen reasons, they had to drop the journey mid way and so I was alone for this mega ride of my life but later met another cyclist in Leh who joined me to cycle to India-Pakistan border.

Avinash, who joined me later in Leh for further ride.

Put yourself in an environment,
Let yourself go,
No plans you must follow,
Just letting it all flow,
A path with no limits,
Just free living at its best,
Following intuition,
Put your mindset to rest,
Where you will end up,
Is a path only you can unfold,
It's a journey you must,
Go out and explore.

Humbled in the presence of mother nature.

Unspoken freedom, Untamed wilderness.

With this thought in mind, we started from Manali on our fully loaded bikes covering the trails of forbidden land through some less explored mountain passes, Shinku la in Zanskar where greenery still exists and glacier still hanging out to rocks and comes at a touching distance. In short, that's some fairyland which is still untouched with commercial world.

Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.

After covering the forbidden land, I reached Leh and rested for couple of days at dormitory. Met Avinash, cyclist who was also covering the same trail joined me for Turtuk. Initially, I don't have any plans to go beyond Turtuk but a friend in army suggested me to visit the actual border or LOC where no one civilian is allowed and only special permission is required to visit that soft border. He arranged the special permits, let know his officers and other soldiers at post about our arrival before hand and everyone at the post got surprised and shocked when they saw us on our cycles and curious to know our journey and welcomed us with open heart. I'll let pictures do the talking.

Cheers

The fence behind me is the actual LOC between India and Pakistan. The 'W' shaped mountain has an active Pakistani Army bunker. Zoom in to see the bunker.
