Jaipur: Swirl Skirts, Colorful turbans, mouthwatering food, welcoming hearts, Mirrors and more

Tripoto

The real gem of Rajasthan rich of colors and culture, where pink became everyone’s favorite color.

We visited the eye pleasing city in the month of December. It was a close friend’s marriage with an extra holiday to spend in Jaipur.

We had one and half day to spend and to see what all we can cover. But some locals and some friends helped us & we started exploring the city on Bike.

As we were on bike the locals were very helpful in guiding us the way and explaining about the places.

You can segregate the places which are in 50-100km areas and far. Also there are particular timings for each place to close down as it’s a heritage city. So plan your trip for the main attractions first something you don’t really want to miss out.

The first place which I visited was Amber fort after 14 years after a school trip. So I was very excited.

Though we were staying at the friends place but you can opt from budgeted to Heritage properties in Jaipur.

Amber Palace: This palace is known by many other names as well Quila Amber, The Amber Fort etc.

The Amer fort is at a distance of 11km from Jaipur and is well connected by local public transport. It’s one of the main attractions of city located on a very High hill with a sloppy way going up. The fort was built by Raja Mann Singh in 15th Century. This palace is famous for the architecture and the mesmerizing view from the top. The small stairs case in the fort will lead you the beautiful room of arts and designs which will showcase the life style of Maharajas.

Toward fort you can visit Jal Mahal which comes in between, except from the view of the lake and mountains there is not much to see. The water body in the center will attract you to click pictures.

The other side of the fort is called as Dhara fort; you can enjoy an elephant ride with you kids and family. The fort was constructed long back hence the condition of the way up is very steeply and stones are no uniform. So we have not really tried the ride but seen other tourist.

As soon as we came out of the fort we bought some souvenirs and bangles from locals sitting outside and played with the bunch of pigeons … ohhhh yes here are the pics.

This fort has always been a desire to visit place for the visitors because lot of Hindi Movies were shot here.

Without a doubt the fort gives the best view of the city from the top. The back side of the fort has a slippery road which connects to the city. We were on bike and keeping the speed slow I can’t really express how we clear the path but the locals so used to of this place that their bikes were running on winds’ speed.

Jantar Mantar Observatory : The astronomic side of Maharaja Jai Singh led him to construct the architecture. This place has world’s largest sundial manual device. Apart from a great architecture this place has the astrological and philosophical devices.

Hanging in the local market:

An ideal destination for girls to spend their time and money in Shopping. The market traditionally showcases the glorious history.

Johri Bazar and Bapu Market the oldest and the largest shopping places known for precious jewelries and pure cotton and Rajasthani Sarees. You can explore the camel leather in Bapu Bazar which is again one of the best markets to buy some belts, Wallets, Lamps and bags.

Food Joints:

Jaipur is famous for the local Rajasthani food, it’s your choice weather you want to try in the local market or chowki- Dhani all depends on the time you have and the taste of food.

We tried some local foods and some of the shops and restaurants nearby. I can’t forget the taste of mouthwatering daal baati & churma.

Late evening you can try a full chocolaty shake at Saras Parlor famous for its ice cream, Cold coffee’s and shakes.
