Day 1

Reached the city of Jabalpur early morning by train. Located amidst rocky hills it is a small city in Central India. Many hotels are there in the city centre, near railway station. I had checked into hotel Ambika Palace, along with three friends of mine. We booked a car and set out for Dhuandhar falls and Bhedaghat on the first day. The place is some 20 kms from city centre. Along Narmada River gorge, mesmerizing natural architecture has been carved out by the river. We first booked a boat ride in Bhedaghat, through the marble rocks. Charges were 700 Rs per boat. The ride gives a serene and unique experience. Later we went to Dhuandhar, the waterfall on Naramada. The cable car over Dhuandhar falls is a must. The view is best from above. We went ahead further upstream, and one can take a bath in the river. We stayed there till sunset. Also there is Chausath Yogini temple nearby. It is one of the oldest heritage site in India. So one visiting Bhedaghat, should make sure to visit this temple too.

On the second day we drove from Jabalpur to Bargi dam, some 35 kms away from the city. The road trip itself was a pleasant experience. Bargi dam is also on Narmada river. We reached the view point within an hour. Bargi dam has the most scenic views around Jabalpur. It is a perfect picnic spot. From the view point we drove further ahead. After a point vehicles are not allowed. You can have a pleasant walk along the dam from there. Surrounded by hilly ranges Bargi offers breathtaking panoramas. For nature lovers going from Jabalpur to Bargi dam is a must visit.
