8:30 AM - We had breakfast at our B&B and met an awesome American couple who live in Cape May, NJ and were following the same itinerary as us today, to include our overnight at Powerscourt Hotel. Small world! After breakfast we booked it to The Rock of Cashel, which was an important monastic site that became the first seat of an arch bishop in Ireland, marking the end of independent Abbot-lead monasteries in Ireland.
11:00 AM - After Cashel we drove to another monastic site called Glendalough. This site was located in a valley in the Wicklow Mountains and had a 100-ft bell tower that has survived since it was erected somewhere between 800-1200 AD. Wow! We hiked around a lake near the site then headed out for lunch and our next stop.
2:00 PM - Our next stop was a quick 15-minute halt at the Powerscourt Waterfall. This is the tallest waterfall in Ireland and you can climb right up to the falling water. So cool!
3:30 PM - After the waterfall we drove to Powerscourt and used our Marriott points for a free stay at the epic Autograph Collection Powerscourt Hotel. After checking in we walked over to Powerscourt House & Gardens and walked around to take pics of the gardens. After the tour we went back to our hotel and had dinner at the hotel pub, then went back to our room to relax and pack for the airport. Tomorrow we head home. :(
