I am sure, if most of us close the eyes and think about Switzerland, we can see the beautiful mountains, villages, lakes, roads and landscapes. Not sure how many times I have used Switzerland Postcards as wallpaper for my computer, laptop, and phone. This has always been one of my dream travel destinations.
So, when we decided for a trip to Paris and Switzerland this year, we started to decide the places to visit during the trip. There are lots of wonderful place in Switzerland, but it is possible to cover only few and we choose two villages for a day trip. Those were Grindelwald and Interlaken, 2 of most beautiful villages of Switzerland.
During our trip to Switzerland, we stayed in Zurich. So, we booked a day trip to Grindelwald and Interlaken from Zurich. We booked the trip through Viator, and it was by Best of Switzerland Tours. It was a family trip, and we were 2 adults, 1 child and 2 senior citizens.
The trip starting point was very close to our hotel Ibis Styles Zurich City Center and it was walkable distance from Zurich HB rail station.
The trip's start time was 8 am, so we reached there by 7.30 am and it helped us to get the best seats of the bus which were first row of upper level to see the panoramic view all the time. In this trip also we got a great travel guide. The bus passed by some important points in Zurich and then a few beautiful villages. on the road everywhere I could find my Switzerland postcards photos.
After a few hours we reached our first destination Grindelwald, one the most picture-perfect villages of Switzerland. It was just an awesome feeling be there. We got off at the bus station and we were given around 2-3 hrs to spend time in Grinderwald. So, without wasting a single minute we started exploring the beautiful place. It is surrounded by mountains and with beautiful landscapes. It has a railway station and lots of restaurant near the bus stop. We could not go for any trekking as we did not have enough time and we had elder people with us. But we roamed around whatever best we can and also had our lunch there itself. We took plenty of photos.
We started for our next destination Interlaken, one of the most famous places of Switzerland. We again got around 2-3 hrs to spend our time there. We walked around the places. Camera and mobile were quite busy clicking tons of photos. We saw the showroom for all the Switch Watches at Interlaken, but just window shopping. Though they called it is a village as per the village definition of Switzerland, but it is more than a town.
After spending some unforgettable moments in Interlaken, we started for Zurich and reached the city center around 7.30 in the evening.
It was a short trip and I wish if we could stay either at Grindelwald or Interlaken for a day or two to explore the places more; maybe it is parked for next time.
