Welcome to my Malaysian Diaries. In this I will help you to plan Malaysia on your own. No Tour agent, No Hefty Packages, No need to go according to other's schedule you can just do it on your own.
Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is the city you can easily reach to from India as there are many flights available (and if you could book 2-3 months prior you can easily get a cheap return air fare). I booked mine from Make My Trip and I got good deal along with some cash backs/rewards. We also booked our hotel from MMT. While choosing the hotel try to choose the one which is near the city centre and which has good reviews (PS never book blindly, read all the reviews and see as many photos of hotel available before finalizing your booking).
Get down at KUL Airport from there you can either take cab to your Hotel (Grab cab works very well in Malaysia just like our Ola/Uber. Buy a local SIM card from airport according to your choice and usage and you are good to go) OR Take KLIA Ekspres and get down at last stop KL Sentral then from KL sentral take another train towards your destination. (You can easily find Maps of train stations on Google and can check which stop is closest to your Hotel)
2pm – Check-in into your Hotel
4pm – Get fresh and leave for Bukit Bintang (Famous for Shopping Night Life, Caves)
7.30pm – Petaling street – Chinatown (should go at night as the market come alive at night , nearest stop Plaza Rakayat by AGL / SPL then walk 5 min to Petaling (2.10 MYR train ticket))
9am – Batu caves 272 colourful steps (from Bank Negara station KMUTER 2442 – 6 stops to Batu Caves, you can reach to Bank Negara station from AGL / SPL line) Batu cave is Cave made up of Limestones which houses Tamil Temples. (Note : Kindly wear full length or below Knee cloths for your visit, you can also get scarves to drape near temple)
12-5pm – City tour (Try to bargain with local cab drivers we booked a Cab at 120 MYR for half a day) Places to visit are as below, also your cab driver being a local can suggest you the route once you tell him what all places you want to visit.
-Sultan Abdul Samad Building
-Merdeka Square
-Sri Mahamariamman Temple (in petaling street can visit while visiting there too)
-National Mosque
-National Monument (11 min Butterfly park and Perdana Botanical Garden is nearby)
-King’s palace – Istana Negara
-Thean Hou Temple (12 min)
-Central Market – Pasar Seni (KUL City Center can visit at night too but before 9.30pm)
4.15 pm – Petronas Towers & KL Towers & KLCC park (we booked Tickets to Petronas through their official website. If you try to book in advance you can get the slot whichever is suitable for you. www.petronastwintowers.com/my is the official site and the ticket per person is 80 MYR. Please note the visit timings and dates as it is closed on Mondays.)
5.30 - Visit Heli Lounge Bar (Nearest Stop Raja Chulan MRL station from there walk 2 min to Heli). Heli lounge opens post 5pm, the sunset is very beautiful from here and if you miss sunset then no issues as it has a great sky bar to sit and relax with your friends and family with the night view of city and Petronas towers.
11 pm – Back to hotel
Extra Tips :
-You might want to buy ready to eat packets of food like Maggie or MTR mixes as there is a high possibility that you might not like Malaysian food very much.
-Please buy Universal charger before going as it will come handy for your future travels too. -Central Market – Pasar Seni is a good place to buy Chocolates and Souvenirs.
-Keep change with you it will be useful while using public toilets or buying train tickets.
-Try and bargain in Petaling street.
-If you wish to have a good dinner with a nice view of Kuala Lumpur at night then you might want to visit G Tower hotel which is exactly besides Twin Tower.
-If you are 3-4 people then you might benefit from travelling by cab rather than Public transport.
