• Started off with Volvo overnight journey from Delhi for 800 bucks pp. The volvo's are quite comfortable and take around 2 stops in midnight for washroom and snacks break.
• Hop onto the volvo and take a comfortable sleep till the early morning. The drop off will be at around 4:30 or 5 A.M if you catch an overnight journey.
• Hire a 3- wheeler till the Laxman Jhula then for around 150 bucks.
• Take a walk down the narrow lanes heading towards the Laxman Jhula, while feeling the cold breeze and the vibes of walking beside the mighty Ganga and then when finally the Sun starts to rise and those first rays just feels like magic out there.
• After a wonderful time during Sunrise, head ou to the office of ' Wild Splash ' at just 200m from the Jhula. It is the most trusted and reliable tourist and backpacking company out there. I have been a regular customer since a year now.
• Book your camps there, the camps are situated around 20kms from the main Rishikesh city towards the Neelkanth road.
• Best way to commute around Rishikesh is to rent a scooty which is available along the camping package at a minimal rate.
• Head out towards the camp site crossing the Gattughat across picturesque landscape, hills and the flowing rivers.
• By the time you reach the camp it will be around 10 A.M already. There you will be greeted by the camp manager and shown to your respective tents.
• So after freshning up ( just a point, the washrooms are really clean and hygenic) head towards the dining area in the camp and gulp down the food served.
• Then the fun starts, just next to the camp is the your own private river beach and a small river flowing by, spend your afternoon there chilling around in the cold waters of the river and playing around in it.
• Now take a bath and change. You will be served your lunch by then.
• So after your lunch head out for your scooty and set off for local sight seeing there.
• The first stop will be the Neer Waterfall which you will find in the main road itself towards Rishikesh city. Take a turn from there and go upto the hills, tbh it is at a pretty good height !
• Followed by a mini hike you reach the waterfall finally, you will be awestrucked by the beauty of the falls and the view it overlooks at the other hand side.
• Done with the waterfall ? Now head out for the main city. At this time it will be realky overcrowded especially in Laxman Jhula and Ram Jhula, so be careful while riding through there.
• Check out the cafes and street shops nearby the Jhula and do some shopping if you want to.
• Next head out for Ram Jhula, which mostly consists of Ashrams and Temples. There at its Ghats the famous ' Ganga Aarti ' is done every evening from 6 P.M, so dont afford to miss that at any cost.
• The Ganga Aarti is something which cant be defined in words the mighty lamps and the chants for the River Ganga while the Sun sets so beautifully in its waters. Truly spiritual !
• Time to go back to the camp site nd enjoy the night while its young ! Served with delicious snacks and a bonfire cause at night it tends to get cold.
• Play a light music and sip on to your favourite alcohol and just enjoy camping in the wild under the stars and near a river.
Day 2 is all about adventures and bidding goodbye's
• The next morning the rays of Sun slowly peeps in the corner of your tents and greets you with a warm day.
• Pack up your stuff and sit for quick breakfast.
• Then according to your desired time for River Rafting bid your camp site bye bye !
• Head out back to the camp office and return the scooty and keep your bags and luggage at the office and move out in mini trucks for the Rafting activity.
• Important tips to keep in mind;
1. Carry your slippers while going for rafting.
2. Wear dryfit clothes so that they dont absorb water and become heavy.
3. Though the guides give proper instructions but still dont panic at all and it will be fun.
4. Lastly wear proper sunscreen if youbdont want that bad Sun tan.
• They will be taking you at the starting point to begin rafting.
• You will be well briefed about each and everything before rafting.
• Normally the rafting is of 15kms and takes about 2½ to 3 hrs to complete.
• You will have the most adventurous moments at different Rapids and its funny the people have named the rapids like ' butterfly, golf course, mountain dew etc. )
• During the rafting session they will be stopping off at maggi and chai point for quick snack. Also there you can try out cliff jumping if you wish for some more adrenaline rush !
• Finally at the end, the raft will drop you off at the ghat near Laxman Jhula.
• Take a walk towards the office, get your clothes and change in the Public convenience just infront.
• So all done and tired, must be feeling hungry right ? Go little further and check out the Ganga Beach Cafe.
• Its so beautifully placed just beside the Ganga and dont forget to try the Ganga Special Thali and the shakes. You can also spot foreigner frequently there and you wont even know when the Sun just went down.
• Time to bid goodbye, walk bck towards the road where you started the previous morning - hire a 3-wheeler till ISBT.
