At a distance of just 2.5 hrs from Surat and 3 hrs from Mumbai, Daman offers a relaxing weekend getaway to the people of Surat & Mumbai. It offers many things to do ranging from exploring the beachside and luxurious hotels on the beach to getting a small ride in the sea on a jetty which costs around INR 200 for one round.
Seafood especially pomfret fry is something one should not miss while visiting Devka Beach side. Some of the prominent places to visit near Surat include Daman, the jetty in fort area in Moti Daman, Daman market which offers so many things to shop from right from imported chocolates to amazing fragrances, and don't forget to check out some amazing hotels and street food in Nani Daman Area.
The picture I have posted above is the belt that has been created inspired by Marine Drive in Mumbai. The place is still under construction the road part below but that doesn't hamper the tourist activity. You can find many old women selling a variety of savouries like black chana chaat, bhel puri, raw and sweet mango slices, juicy cucumber slices, among many others.
The lane opposite this area stretches for about 500 mts where you can find some quick street food bites both veg and non-veg and some shops as well as stalls selling clothes just like a mini shopping stroll. My go-to option for a quick bite after strolling for a while scanning clothes has been omelette bread and Maggi with boiled egg. Sheetal Restaurant, a roadside café serving quick bites has amazing Maggi & tea and has been there in the Nani Daman area since many years.
Daman is one of the most happening tourist places in Gujarat primarily because of two major reasons, one is the beach and the other is the availability of liquor as Gujarat is a dry state.

Coming to cafes when one is entering Daman from Vapi one should not miss stopping by at Café Beats Arena at Vapi-Daman road for a quick coffee and a halt before entering the Daman city. Daman also has one outlet for Domino's Pizza near Teen batti road.
