2020 started with much zeal, it was supposed to be THE year for all unresolved resolutions. Mishka and I have been travel ready, bags packed, Polaroid loaded and tank full to hit the roads. With much gusto we explored the Land of the Kings, in our 11 day road trip to Rajasthan. Our pumped-up energy was immediately crushed due to the unending COVID.
After nearly 6 months of being lockdown, we tip toed out of the house and into the lap of nature. Our mini Independence Weekend Getaway was just the little respite we needed to feel like our travel bug selves. Unlike most of our road trips, this was just 1.5 hours to The Heritage Resort, Manesar, Gurgaon.
The resort just off the Delhi – Jaipur highway is a massive property, lush with lawns and ample space for Mishka to chase squirrels. An added feature our trip was the most important safety precautions and sanitization of the property. We made sure we were heavily quipped with our own safety gear, minimised interacting with the staff and nearly bathed in sanitizer.
We assumed the property would be empty and Mishka and I would be little souls lost in the greens of the resort, but Delhi people never miss on an opportunity to vacation. The Independence Day long weekend was a perfect excuse for families to seek the much needed escape.
The Heritage Resort took great consideration in terms of maintaining safe distancing, providing masks etc. Despite it being unprecedented times they managed to continue with weekend entertainment like Rajasthani Folk Singers, Puppet Show and Live Music while taking the necessary precautions. The property had several other amenities like a swimming pool, gym and spa that would have been ideal for a mini vacay in the Delhi heat but for safety measures, those weren’t operational.
A short but sweet getaway during these crazy times is all we can hope for! Itching for the next mini getaway.
