Telengana State Road Transport Corporation has launched nine air-conditioned buses with free onboard Wi-fi. The TSRTC has purchased 16 AC sleeper buses, of which nine were indicted in service. These buses will initially ply to destinations like Bengaluru, Hubbali, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Chennai.
State Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar formally launched the buses on Monday, 27th March 2023. TSRTC chairman Bajireddy Goverdhan said with these buses, the Corporation was offering the best state-of-the-art services to passengers at par with private operators. The Corporation is also planning green initiatives, as TSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director VS Sajjanar revealed that 1,300 EV buses will be launched soon.
These AC Sleeper buses named 'Lahari', have 15 upper and 15 lower berths. Provision for keeping water bottle beside the berth has been given, along with mobile charging points. Passengers can also enjoy free onboard Wi-fi facility while they travel.
Along with comfort, these buses also promise safety. The buses are equipped with a vehicle tracking system and panic button facility, which will be connected to the TSRTC control room. Each bus is equipped with two CCTV cameras, and also has a reverse parking assistance.
For the assistance of travelers, the front and rear of the bus will have LED boards to display details of the destination and stops. A Public Address System in the bus will provide information to the passengers. The vehicles will also have state-of-the-art fire detection and alarm system (FDAS), which sends out immediate alerts in case a fire breaks out in the bus.
AC sleeper buses are the latest offering from TSRTC, which recently introduced new super luxury, non-AC sleeper and seater-cum-sleeper buses. With these buses, travelling from Telengana to nearby places has become more convenient.
