Vacationers get away but also known for its epic party scene, Goa has so many facets to it. This time around we decided to ditch the tourist scene and live the rustic, laid back lifestyle of true Goan locals. We explored South Goa at a leisurely pace, taking our time and carrying picnic lunches (and dinners!) to spend entire days at our favorite beaches.
Here’s our ranking of our Top 5 South Goa beaches.
Number 5- Benaulim Beach
Our favorite beach for weekday workation scenes, with plenty of shacks and during the season and weekends a plethora of water sports. We found a tranquil spot in one of the shacks on a quiet weekday afternoon with the sea breeze and commanding views of the shipping boats out at sea.
Number 4- Cavellosim Beach
This gorgeous beach is great for a dip in the ocean. We decided to carry our dinner to this beach for a little midnight picnic under the stars and looking out at the glimmering expanse of the ocean stretched across the horizon.
Number 3- Fatrade Beach
We spent entire days frolicking on this beach with the perfect beach side picnic followed by bathing in the ocean. The waters here our calm and with very alert life guards it's an amazing beach if you fancy a swim.
Number 2- Cabo de Rama
An Instagram favorite and now we definitely get the hype. Visit the resort Cabo Serai which is a breathtaking property and saunter down to the beach from the cliff around sunset to take in the majestic views.
Number 1- Kakolem Beach
Perhaps South Goa's best kept secret this hidden gem is still relatively off the tourist grid. With a short hike down the cliff through a privately owned property this beach boasts a crazy natural feature- a fresh water waterfall kissing the white sand beach. A single shack on the beach serves excellent fresh fish in the authentic Konkani style. We took a detour along the cliff before making our way down to the beach and were rewarded with amazing views of the coastline.
