Day 1

Well hearing of ghost towns what first comes to mind is Kuldhara, an abandoned and cursed village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, towards the Sam desert. Established around the 13th century, it was once a prosperous village inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins.

There's a tale of great intrigue that explains the mysterious overnight abandonment of the village by all its inhabitants.

A masterly move of the crafty and learned Brahmin clan in order to prevent the chief's daughter being taken away by the smitten, lusty king of the area.. and thus their honour alongwith it.

Legend has it that they left no tell tale signs, no leads to follow, like they just vanished into thin air. (Though some maintain that its the town of Pali,70 odd kms from Jodhpur that they called their new home).

And before they went, they laid a curse on their once sprawling hamlet. That if ever someone did step foot to loot or convert their remnants for own good, they'd face certain decimation.

Believe you me,the heavy pall of the curse still looms large there. Personally having visited most of the listed ghost towns/villages, even staying overnight at a couple, no other place gives you the chills..the way Kuldhara does, even to this day.

Day 2

And yet another intriguing ghost town is Orchha, which i'll rate at par with Mandu.

Stayed there at the Sheesh Mehal.
Saw valiant history come alive in the night. Like the ghosts of times past and figures long gone came alive. Shapes and shadows swirling and dancing in the night..!

To save on time and energy, sharing verbatim the review i posted at insta then.. !
