Day 1

And our trip to SHILLONG and CHERRAPUNGEE started on the 12th of January..

SHILLONG-
The Scotland Of India...This small city is the capital of the state Meghalaya, one among the Seven Sisters of North East...

It was precisely 8:15am when we started our journey... But our journey came to a hault with the evergreen traffic jam of Guwahati at Paltan Bazar.. After half an hour of the jam we finally could make a good drive to our destination...
It was 9:00am when we reached the road which had Meghalaya on one side and Assam on the other... It was ticking a point in my bucketlist- "Being at two on the same time"

The journey was full of twist and turns and a hell lot of songs... Singing and dancing happily we reached UMIAM lake- our first stop at 11:01am

UMIAM LAKE-
It is a beautiful water body on the way to Shillong... The crystal clear and freezing water, the blissful breeze, the mountain on the sides of the lake and the happiness of the tourist with their fun and smiles made the place an awesome picnic spot for the people living nearby

12:21pm was the time we departed from the lake and headed back to the journey leading us to CHERRAPUNGI.

People say "The destination isn't the most important thing... It is the path that leads you to the end..."
And it seems true in case of MEGHALAYA... The next stoppage of our journey was the SHILLONG PEAK.. But the sight and scenary of the entire travel was something that was just amazing... We haulted thrice on the way because the view of the mountains, hills and valleys were awestrucking... Finally we reached our second destination at 01:31pm

SHILLONG PEAK-
This is the highest point of the city... One can literally see the entire city from this point... A tower of two floors is constructed with a telescope on the top floor to have a close eye over the entire city... The best part of the place was the vendor's shop that allowed people to borrow the traditional dress of Shillong and get their pictures clicked... This literally bougjt people close to this place...

We departed from this point at 02:30pm to our next stop, The Elepanth Falls... The falls wasn't far from the peak and it took us just 20 mins to reach the beautiful and the famous falls...

THE ELEPHANT FALLS-
This falls is a mystery in itself... This waterfall falls in three steps.. It was previously known as the Three Step Falls... But after the British came to India and saw this marvellous waterfall they named it Tbe Elephant Falls because of the rocks besides it was somewhat like the shape of an elephant... This rock got destroyed in the earthquake of 1897... Their are steps leading us down to all the three steps of the fall... the sight at the bottom of the third step was indeed something worth watching... We departed from the waterfall and came to our car to have our lunch... at 04:05pm we finally started the ignition of our car and set out on the roads leading us to Cherrapungee...

CHERAPUNGEE-
The place with the longest rainfall in India... People say when it rains in this region you cannot even see the ground to place your next foot... This town is a marvel in the map of our country with a few exotic locations to visit... It was 05:05pm when we entered Cherrapungee and since the sun had set here we decided to call it a day... we checked in at the GOSHEN HOMESTAY and relaxed for a while... After having our dinner we got off to sleep in the excitment of starting a new day with new places to visit...

Day 2

The day started with an amazing view outside our room... We had our breakfast and started our journey again... The first site of pur day 2 was the Arwah Cave... We reached the entry point of the cave at 09:34 am

ARWAH CAVE-
It was a 500 m long walkview from the entry point to the cave... The entire walk was full of awestrucking views... Every site we saw there had just one expression from us- "What beautiful place it is.." The cave was initially a mountain but due to the carbon dioxide present in the water reacted to form carbonic acid and created cavity in the mountain that gave rise to the entire cave... There were fossil imprints on the walls of the cave... In short this cave was in every word a nature marvel... We spend an entire hour at the cave and departed for the next spot at 10:30am..

SEVEN SISTER FALLS-
We went ahead to see the Seven Sister Falls... This is a place where there are seven different falls... During rainy seasons these falls overflow with water but at this time of the year there wasnt any water flowing... We enjoyed the site for some time and then departed for our next spot...

This is a man made cave constructed in the year 2000... It was a project of 500000 rupees at that time.. It is constructed in a way that give the visitor a proper experience of trekking in a cave... There are obstacles in the way of the cave that make you struggle out your way through the cave... It was a great experience being there and making our way out...

ZIPLINING-
This was a place where I experienced my first thrilling task...The ZipLining... This place had two different types of zip line... One was between two mountains and the other one was aligned along the mountain... We opted to go for the alinged zip lining as it was less fearful... This was the experience of my life... The fear, the excitement and the extreme level of adreline rush made me remember every bit of the time I spend on the rope... It was literally worth the time and money..
