Scary experience on my first solo trip to goa.

Tripoto

Planning of Trip.

It was July 18, 2019, and the day was very hot and humid in Delhi. I was desperately looking for a break from this weather. With no destination in my mind, I opened Skyscanner and started looking for airfares. I found that there is cheap airfare to goa after 3 days and without thinking much, I booked the flights and also Airbnb for the first 2 nights and I left 1 night for accommodation without any planning.

Day 1 of Trip.

Finally, the day came, It was 21 July morning. I reached the airport and after waiting for hours due to delay boarded the plane. We arrived at goa at 3 PM after a very bumpy flight. I saw a Bus with a board of Calangute as I came out of the airport. without a second thought, I boarded the bus as my BnB was near to that. It was off-season in goa and I could find very fewer tourists in goa. With the help of GPS, I reached the society where the Airbnb was booked. I checked in and freshen up, rested for a while. Later in the evening I went for a walk till the Candolim beach and spent some time and enjoyed the weather. I picked up some groceries while returning.

By the time I get to the society, it was dark. Now it's me standing right in the middle of the court with no lights anywhere in any of the apartments . to my surprise I found out that only I am staying here in this whole society. It is a hood of about 8 buildings with 10 flats each. My apartment was on the third floor and the stairs were in the complete dark. Somehow I gathered the strength to find my way through the stairs and I literally ran my ass off till the room. I entered it and closed all the 4 latches on the door. Switched on the lights and went to the kitchen and had my dinner.

I never felt so scared in my life but living alone in a society of about 50 flats is much of an adventure that I did not think of doing it here. Moreover, it was raining all night with thunders, I had to left my lights on to sleep and the day came to the end.

Day 2 of Trip.

I woke up after the scary experience of last night. I thought of moving out of this place but I had already paid for 2 nights so I decided to stay back and went out to buy something for breakfast. It was still raining and nothing was planned for the day. I came back had my breakfast started watching TV and reading books. It continued to rain for a long time and I thought of going on a road trip the next day. I googled for car renting agencies nearby and finally settled for 1 and the things were planned. This was my third trip to goa but I have never been to south goa till now. I called off the 2nd day after some evening walk on the beach and this night was not much scary at all.

Day 3 of Trip.

After waking up , I freshen up and prepared breakfast. Packed my bag and called the agency for the car . After struggling for an hour eventually got the car but this was not the car I booked but I accepted as I did not want to delay it further. Entered the location as Palolem beach in the GPS and started the drive . It was a drive of about 4 hours and will run through the length of goa. It was a rainy day with lush green surroundings. The roads were smooth and the traffic was less.

Driving at the speed of 50-60 , listening to my favorite songs , one hand on the window and the weather with light showers , I could have not have imagined a better day . With no hurry to reach after an hour I was in rural goa where the roads were narrow , green fields all around, small village houses and tea shops, it felt like a village set out of the movie 'Singham'.The day was getting better and better. Now I can see the mountains with forests and clouds hovering over them, I stopped for a tea and snack break.

I left again towards the mountains and the roads were narrow and curvy but oh boy still I can't complain about the views. I can say it was the best drive of my life ever. At about 5.30 PM I reached Palolem. It was still raining and there were hardly any tourists on the beach . The sea was angry and waves were coming till the shops on the beach and it was like the sea was warning us not to get in. I stepped out and headed to the hotel, check-in was smooth and the owner was friendly. I went to my room which was decent enough for me and with a balcony. Here also the whole hotel was empty and I was only staying but at least there was a feeling for security with the staff and owner in the hotel. After having dinner and some beer, I called off the day and went to sleep.

Day 4 of Trip .

This was the last day of the trip . My flight timing was 2.30 PM and I was staying 4 hours away from the airport. Without much delay I woke up had my breakfast , went for a walk till the beach to soak up the feeling for having in goa . I left for the airport via the same road with the views still continue to surprise me. I reached at the airport at 12 Noon, returned the car and entered the airport . The flight was on time and check-in was smooth . Said goodbye to goa with a promise to come back soon.
