"Sangam" at Allahabad

Meet Chandan Bhaiya, from Prayagraj!
I met him yesterday at Sangam. We booked a boat ride from him.
But that's not it.

More than the boat ride, it was a story telling session, as he shared some really interesting things.

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝟭:
So many people take the boat rides for the purpose of suicide.
Yes, F******* SUICIDE
What happens is, when the boat reaches middle of the river, they just jump without any hint. That's when, the boat riders around also jumps and save the person.
It all started when we asked Chandan Bhaiya how good is he in Swimming.
He is a pro man!

There is a Naini Bridge o er the sangam, which is popularly known as Suicide bridge.
Chandan Bhaiya is of the opinion that  मारना है तो कहीं और जाके मरो, पानी में क्यों आते हो।

There are 4-5 such cases every month, according to him.

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝟮:
They used to take 7 days long trip to Varanasi.
Like Allahabad to Varanasi via boat.
It's like a caravan in water, where there is a group of 4-5 people travel via boat. It's 250 kms approx. There are 4-5 boats that leaves together. One boat for carrying food, one for luggage, one changing room type of boat, one for water and one for people. And and and, these are not motor boats, all manual.
During night, they park their boats at nearby village.

Mostly foreigners takes such trip.

Well well well, he shared that "Modi Mela" is happening next week. And clearly he seems sad about it.
"सभी भक्त भरे पड़े हैं यहां" he exclaimed in low voice.

And we chose not to talk about politics.
We are on a trip after all😛

Chandan Bhaiya is definitely an interesting character.
More than these stories, I would like to tell you all the fact that, how religiously and dedicated he does his job. It's his everyday job to take people on a boat ride, and he makes sure that he make that ride count for everyone.

That's what we all are supposed to do.
