The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are about to get more exciting with plans to allow more than 150 beach shacks. This decision comes after tourists expressed their desire for livelier beach experiences after sunset.

Currently, tourists are not allowed near the sea at night on most of the island's beaches. To address this, the administration will issue permits for 20 beach shacks on Havelock Island and 40 on Neil Island.

On Havelock Island, there will be 10 beach shacks at Kalapathar, 15 at Elephanta, and five at Sitapur. Meanwhile, Neil Island will have 20 shacks each on Laxmaspur and Bharatpur beaches.

In addition to this, there will be permits for 10 beach shacks each at Corbyn's Cove and Badabalu in Port Blair. Middle Andaman will see 40 beach shacks – 15 in Raman Bagaicha, 10 in Cutbert Bay, and 15 in Baludera. Another 25 shacks will be allowed in Middle Andaman, with 15 at Karmatang in Mayabunder and 10 at Ramnagar in Diglipur.

These beach shacks will replace unauthorized hawkers and temporary shacks that have sprung up in a disorganized manner. This initiative aims to enhance the beauty and ambiance of the beaches while providing food, wine, and music to visitors.

Importantly, it will also contribute to revenue generation and create job opportunities for locals. The shacks will be constructed using natural materials like bamboo, wood, thatch, and palm fronds, ensuring they blend harmoniously with the environment.

Similar beach shacks are common in coastal areas worldwide, enhancing the overall coastal experience. Officials from the Tourism Department and the District Level Committees of the Andaman Nicobar Coastal Zone Management Authority will inspect and approve these shacks.

Crucially, the permits come with a condition: discrimination based on nationality, gender, caste, religion, or race will result in permit cancellation. This move aims to ensure that everyone enjoys the beautiful beaches without any bias.

In conclusion, these beach shacks promise to make Andaman's beaches more vibrant, enjoyable, and inclusive, benefiting both tourists and the local community.
