If you are organizing a short vacation by the sea at odisha then for sure Puri will be the best place to dive in. Puri is a city in the state of odisha in eastern India & is situated on the Bay Of Bengal,70Km south of the state of Bhubaneswar. The best time to visit here is generally from July-March, although we can go there throughout the year except for peak summer. We had a comradeship which comprised of 6 people along with them I kicked off our ride from Bhubaneswar station at 3:00 am in the morning in our respective bikes, to enjoy the night journey as
" We Only Regret The Rides We Didn't Take"
also with a reason to visit the temple at the earliest to escape the rush. The roads were very smooth & easy driving. After a ride of 40Kms we halted for a chai break,in those chilled weather,a cup of tea was always being a comrade to restore all the energies.Thereafter, completing rest of the distance we had reached by 5:00 o'clock , and parked our vehicle in the parking area which was chargeable(30/-for bike & 50/- for car).
Then, we headed towards the golden beach,it was all dark & we were very relaxed and sat down calmy on the sand waiting for the Sun to rise.We just closed our eyes & turned our face into the wind made it felt it was worth coming to this place. It's impossible to wrap up all the things in one sentence the beauty of sunrise it was magnificent, making the waterto glitter. The strong sound of breeze was even more pleasent to hear.
"The way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline,no matter how many times it's sent away" --Sarah Kay
All of us experienced that at the beach life is different. The wave of seashore stopped from making us remain on the sand & we went into the water .The waves were unpredictable sometimes a small & sometimes a big only we were trying to surf it over but many a times drowned it it's eyesore.
The additional beauty of the beach was of a Camel, their long legs & neck, a shapely hump on lower back, large head was admirable.
Most importantly talking about the seashore fisherman, their hardwork is highly encouraged thier life is not rosy, the back breaking work begins at the crack of the dawn & ends at dusk. They struggle daily with the rough seashore to earn their living.
After that we had turned back to the parking area, beside there was a bathing place which provides warm water at nominal price from where one can go & get rid of the salty water and muds stuck in the clothes.
For a family or those who want to book a hotel for staying there is a plenty of options available right in the front of the sea beach, OYO facilities are also available.
Within half hour we got freshen up & got ready to resume the journey towards Sri Jaggannath Temple in our bikes which was 2 kms from there. The temple was believed to be one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites for Hindus. This place is related to ancient history too.The flag is unfurled above the temple tower with a spire, which is raised to over a height of 58metres(190ft) & fixed over a wheel(Chakra). The most important festival is the Rath Yatra(Car festival) held in June-July,which is attended by more than 1 million people.
At the starting there were many payable shops to carry out all the items like mobiles, camera, leather clothes, shoes etc. which are not allowed in the temple, but also there was a free counter and the only problem was to maintain a long queue for their turn.
Due to early arrival there was very less crowd & we had passed through all the enteries & finally reached to the main gate of the temple and had our blessings of God.Thereafter, we had visited to all the temples around it to see the beauty of architecture. Please,be careful of the pandits there they will always try to get an amount of money from you.
Then, we had a sweet peda as prasad. The steam-cooked food is offered to Lord Jaggannath first & then to Bimala Debi after which it becomes Mahaprasad. The Mahaprasad is freely partaken by people of all castes & creeds without any discrimination. The items offered include cooked rice, dal, vegetable curry, sweet dishes, cakes, etc.
There were many street food also avalible outside & many more stores to buy some of the specialities of Odisha handcraft items, jute craft, glass craft etc. It was our unfrogettable trip.
At last, there is a question for you "Do you prefer solo traveler or with someone else?"
