Pondicherry (or Puducherry) is a Union Territory and located in the state of Tamil Nadu. It was a French colony in the past and that is the reason it continues to have French architecture till date. Pondicherry is similar to Goa, just cleaner and more peaceful (not to forget the delicious food!). The white sand beaches and the green seas all make it a perfect tourist attraction.

Like they always say, sunshine is the best medicine! And that is why we decided to head to Pondicherry for our all-girls trip!

How to reach Pondicherry:

By train: You can take a train from Mumbai which takes you directly to Pondicherry.

By Flight: There are flights from Mumbai directly to Pondicherry but they are quite expensive. You can take flight from Mumbai to Chennai (135 kms from Pondicherry)

Best time to visit Pondicherry:

The months from October to February are considered as the best time to visit this town and explore its beauty!

Here is a list of places/ things to do while visiting/ exploring the French town:

Mahabalipuram

While travelling from Chennai to Pondicherry, Mahabalipuram is on the way. Mahabalipuram is known for its temples and monuments built in the 7th century. It is also a UNESCO heritage site. The famous places to visit in Mahabalipuram include the Shore Temple, the Panch Rathas, the Light House and the Mahabalipuram beach. If time permits, you can also take a peek into the Crocodile Bank which is very near to Mahabalipuram temple. The sight of more than a hundred crocodiles just lazying around will simply amuse you.

Rock beach/ Promenade

As the name suggests, the beach is full of rocks. It has a small stretch of sand as well. Also, it is the perfect place to witness the sunrise. But one needs to wake up really early to see the beautiful sun rise from the blue sea with the wind playing with your hair. The feeling is magical! The place is also perfect for an evening walk, but it remains crowded generally.
