India is a developing country that is expanding its infrastructure by building new airports, bus stops, and train stations. Airports are being built as part of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) programme with the intention of offering cheap flights for regular citizens commuting between major cities and smaller villages.

Here is a list of the five domestic airports where Indians can begin their path towards realising their goal of flying.

1. Jewar Airport, Noida

This international airport, which is situated near Noida and has six runways, is regarded as India's largest airport and is intended to ease the strain at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. According to reports, it will reportedly begin operating in 2022–2023.

2. Purandar Airport, Pune

Pune's lone airport is 10 kilometres outside the city and shares its limits with the Lohegaon Air Force Base, making it difficult to expand when traffic is strong. A new airport called Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport is being built in the Purandar area to lessen the pressure on the Lohegaon Airport. It will begin operating in 2024.

This area will be operational starting in 2023 and will serve 90 million passengers annually.

By opening Rewa Airport by the end of 2023, which would divert traffic from Tier-1 towns like Bhopal and Indore in the state, the Madhya Pradesh government is on track to reduce passengers' anxieties. Additionally, following the opening of the first phase, the airport plans to transport travellers to Bhopal, Indore, Delhi, and Mumbai.
