India is a developing country that is expanding its infrastructure by building new airports, bus stops, and train stations. Airports are being built as part of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) programme with the intention of offering cheap flights for regular citizens commuting between major cities and smaller villages.
Here is a list of the five domestic airports where Indians can begin their path towards realising their goal of flying.
1. Jewar Airport, Noida
This international airport, which is situated near Noida and has six runways, is regarded as India's largest airport and is intended to ease the strain at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. According to reports, it will reportedly begin operating in 2022–2023.
Distance from New Delhi : 82kms
Distance from IGI : 89kms
Connectivity : London, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Goa, Bengaluru, Mumbai
2. Purandar Airport, Pune
Pune's lone airport is 10 kilometres outside the city and shares its limits with the Lohegaon Air Force Base, making it difficult to expand when traffic is strong. A new airport called Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport is being built in the Purandar area to lessen the pressure on the Lohegaon Airport. It will begin operating in 2024.
Distance from Pune : 40kms
Distance from Lohegaon Airport : 45kms
Connectivity : Mumbai, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Goa, Indore
3. Navi Mumbai International Airport, Maharashtra
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Vile Parle will be greatly assisted by this airport, which is currently under construction in the Panvel area of Navi Mumbai, also known as NAINA (Navi Mumbai International Notified Area). This area will be operational starting in 2023 and will serve 90 million passengers annually.
Distance from Mumbai : 21kms
Distance from Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport : 33kms
Connectivity : Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, Udaipur
4. Rewa Airport, Madhya Pradesh
By opening Rewa Airport by the end of 2023, which would divert traffic from Tier-1 towns like Bhopal and Indore in the state, the Madhya Pradesh government is on track to reduce passengers' anxieties. Additionally, following the opening of the first phase, the airport plans to transport travellers to Bhopal, Indore, Delhi, and Mumbai.
Distance from Rewa : 11kms
Connectivity : Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, New Delhi and Mumbai
5. Rajkot Airport, Gujarat
This one runaway airport, which exclusively operates A320 air buses, is thought to offer relief for the airports serving the state's major cities. One of the four phases of its infrastructure's authorized construction will be completed by the end of 2023. It is under construction in the Hirasar area, just off of National Highway 8B.
Distance from Rajkot : 30kms
Connectivity : Mumbai, New Delhi, Indore, Mopa, Bengaluru and Udaipur
Our trip will be simple thanks to the nation's infrastructure's general growth. We are eagerly awaiting the approval of further such projects, which will give us another excuse to book flights through these airports.
