3. Chopta, Uttarakhand:
Chopta, lovingly called "Mini Switzerland." Join a yoga session amidst the lush meadows. Explore the nearby tea estates and orchards during a guided tea-tasting session. Take a leisurely walk to the tranquil Deori Tal during sunsets. If you love trekking head to Tungnath and Chandrashila treks. Visit Tungnath temple, one of the Panch Kedar temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Chopta is a paradise for birdwatchers, with a variety of avian species. Carry binoculars and a bird guidebook to spot and identify them. Spend a night under the stars by camping in Chopta. Several campsites offer basic amenities and a chance to immerse yourself in nature.
Must Do: Attend a local tea-tasting session, try the seasonal foraged Herbs and Greens.
4. Gurez Valley, Jammu and Kashmir:
Gurez Valley is hidden deep within the heart of the Himalayas, often overlooked by tourists. The drive itself to Gurez Valley itself is a breathtaking experience. The road journey takes you through winding paths surrounded by lush green meadows, snow-capped peaks, and the Kishanganga River. While the trek to Habba Khatoon Peak is a must, there's more to do here than just trekking. Take leisurely strolls along the riverbanks. Engage with the locals, the resilient Gujjar and Bakarwal communities, and listen to their tales of life amidst the mountains. Savour Rogan Josh, Modur Pulao and Kahwa while on a holiday in Gurez.

5. Gandikota, Andhra Pradesh:
This one is a stargazing paradise, so naturally go camping under the starry sky. Embark on a scenic hike down to the Pennar River, which flows through the gorge. Wind down by indulging in the flavors of Andhra cuisine, which is known for its spicy and tangy dishes. Try dishes like Andhra Chicken Curry, Gongura Pachadi (sorrel leaf chutney), and Andhra-style biryani. While not in Gandikota itself, the Belum Caves are a short drive away. Explore these underground caves known for their intricate formations and natural beauty.
Must Do: Try rappelling and rock climbing, savour local snacks like Mirapakaya Bajji (chili fritters) and Punugulu (rice and urad dal fritters) at street food stalls.
6. Majuli Island, Assam:
Majuli, the world's largest river island, is an absolute cultural treasure chest. You must savour the flavors of Assamese thali . Take the opportunity to dive even deeper into the local culture by joining a meal at one of the island's Satras (monasteries). Engaging with the monks over meals is an incredibly heartwarming experience that offers a window into the spiritual and cultural essence of the island. Kamalabari Satra and Auniati Satra are particularly famous. If you visit during the Raas festival (usually in November), don't miss the Raas Leela performances that depict Lord Krishna's life through dance and drama.

Explore the magnificent Junagarh Fort, an architectural marvel showcasing a blend of Mughal and Rajput styles. Admire the intricately decorated palaces, courtyards, and temples within. Forget the fancy restaurants; head straight to the bustling local street vendors. Here, you'll find a treasure trove of snacks like kachori and pakoras that will leave you craving for more. Visit Lalgarh Palace, a stunning red sandstone palace showcasing Indo-Saracenic architecture. It houses a museum with a remarkable collection of artifacts.
