"What defines you as a traveler is your unique identity! You own it because you have built it from a myriad of experiences on taking those unbeaten path"

Now in this global pandemic outbreak, on being sitted on my couch and reminiscing those journeys definitely brings a smile on my face. Let me open some of those notes from travelogues for all of you to appreciate as well.

Excerpts from my #MemoryLane

1. Experience 1~ My First Scuba Experience

Imagine breathing underwater and swimming along with those little mermaids. Being a non-swimmer myself, I was death scared to take a dip into that 150 deep sea. But, then those beautiful coral reefs, crystal clear water and colourful fishes took my breath away. I did it in Havelock Island, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India. It costed me around Rs 3000 bucks for 1 hour duration. This experience helped me overcome my fears of getting into water. Obviously, it has pushed me to learn swimming. The video below sums up my emotion when i did scuba.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Can be accessed by ship- From both Kolkata and Chennai; takes 3-5 days to reach; costs- Rs 1500- 8000 based on your preferences

Can be accessed by all major airports- Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru ( price depends on the airport you are boarding from)

Ideal time - almost anytime of the year except during rainy season from July to September

This may sound very casual but I must tell you I am an acrophobiac (scared of heights). In one of my trips to Gujarat, i went to attend Rann Utsav in the Great Rann of Kutchch, I came across this thrilling adventure. I met an amazing family who run this adventure, along with it they undertake videography for interested enthusiasts. Make sure you do this during sunrise / sunset to have your money's worth.

How many of the readers are aware that there is cliff beach in Kerala known as the Varkala cliff beach. It is a beautiful black beach on a cliff having the most captivating sunsets you will see in India. With a flock of foreign tourists visiting this place, it has a charm of its own. Surrounded by a number of exotic cafes with exquisite delicacies, one can just sit back to enjoy a sunset. Make sure to grab one of those cocktails while enjoying the sunset. You can also take an Ayurvedic spa message to relax your mind and body. It is a must do thing in Kerala

Have you ever traveled to a place without a ticket? That was my first time when I had booked a ticket to Ooty ( a hill-station in Tamil Nadu) but my tickets got cancelled in the last moment. Instead of sitting idle, I thought to pursue my journey. Trust me, it was the most difficult but also the most memorable one. Firstly the traveling ticket examiner got me down from my cancelled train. Then, i boarded the next train to Ooty and sat in the general compartment which was over-filled with passengers. Each minute felt like year. Then, slowly i managed a seat, started interacting with others and then my journey became easier.

2. Experience 2 ~Paramotoring- Flying with birds

When the para motor soared into the orange sky, with the setting sun in one side and the surreal whitesand of Rann of Kutchch below, my soul came to life. I was flying along with those winged creatures-'birds' all around me. The instructor made sure I was all enjoying the experience with all safety precautions.

Rann of Kutchch is accessible from Bhuj- via bus or train. Alternatively, you can hire an auto or a four wheeler from Bhuj to roam Kutchch.

Ideal time- during winters from October to March

Costs involved- Paramotoring costed me Rs 3300 (videography included)

3. Experience 3- A Solo-travelling Indian

This is one of my personal favorite memory. the day i took to travelling on my own, i have undergone a plethora of changes. Fiercely independent, organizer, problem solver and confident to tackle any difficulties that cross my path. Being said this, I am a responsible traveler as well. I don't urge any readers to be impulsive in their decisions and travel with necessary precautions. I went to Rann of Kutchch ( cited above), camped with strangers, lived in a Goan hostel and many more.

You can read my blog on Goa below;

This experience has a lot of places related to it. I will write about it in my future blogs individually.

4. Experience 4- Enjoying a cocktail in a hidden cliff beach

Varkala can be best accessed by a train or local bus from Thiruvanthapuram. it takes hardly 30-45 minutes to reach this place.

Ideal time- Anytime except the rainy season

5. Experience-5~ A Ticketless Journey

Ooty can be accessed by both railways and buses from Coimbatore

Ideal time- Anytime of the year

Hence, an avid traveler like me has endless memories and innumerable stories to share with all my readers. I will be writing more on my trips and share more off beat places to visit in India
