I have explored this place during September 2020! It was my first ever trek. So i was bit afraid. I went here with my team sahyadri backpackers. Nakhind is the ridge situated near Vangani Badlapur. We reached to Bedisgaon which is the village near the base village of the ridge. Vaghinichi wadi which is the base village from where the trek starts. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to reach Vaghinichi wadi from Bedisgaon.Vaghinichi wadi is very simple village with a school,a few brick Houses and farms. The village does not have electricity.you may be able to hire local guide to take you on the top of nakhind ridge who may charge 250to 400 INR.
As i went here after the rainy season i came across many streams and waterfalls. The main attraction of Nakhind ridge is Nedhe(A naturally formed hole in the mountain)The way to reach the Nedhe from Bedisgaon village is a uphill climb for one and half hour. The route is muddy and full of dense forest and thorny plants. My advise is for you is must carry 2-3 liters of water and wear full sleeves and track pant. The route is slippery so be aware of it. wear the shoes with proper grip during rainy season. Once you reach at the ridge you have to walk towards the Nedhe. While walking towards the Nedhe there are deep valleys on the both side so be careful.
After reaching the Nedhe we took the break for half an hour and had lunch and took some rest . The view from the Nedhe is just amazing. After the Nedhe the route difficult because of rock patch and deep valley along the left side. So be attentive while this patch after this rock patch there will be a climb where you will have to pull yourself up to reach the top. once you are at the top you will able to see the mountains on the Panvel and Neral region. You can easily spot Matheran towards the south, Irshalgad, Prabalgad and Kalavantin Durg towards the South-West and Chanderi, Mhasmal, towards the North.
The height of Nakhind ridge is 664 m (approximate 2178 ft.) according to google. There is no such big history of this ridge but this ridge acted as a watch tower to keep the watch on the forts nearby and on enemies according to my sources.
