Before this trip, I heard a lot about Udaipur. Like Udaipur is a lovely blend of water, lush green hills that set fire and passion in the poet. Fantastical palaces, temples, Havelis, lakes, gardens, mountains and countless narrow, crooked, timeless streets add the human counterpoint to the city’s natural charms.

But I believe in "Don't listen to what they say. Go see."

So here are my matchless memories of Udaipur.

1. That feeling when your every single click is picturesque.

The City Palace towers over the Pichola Lake. The balconies, cupolas, and towers of the palace give a wonderful view of the lake and the surrounding city.

Situated just outside Udaipur, this 19th-century palace is built on top of Bansdara Mountain. Used as a monsoon palace and hunting lodge, its builder, Maharana Sajjan Singh, originally planned to make it an astronomical center. The plan was canceled with Maharana Sajjan Singh's premature death. It is still an awe-inspiring sight on the Udaipur skyline and offers spectacular views of the city and the areas around.

An example of the Indo-Aryan style of architecture, one of the most famous temples in Udaipur.

Pichola was the name of a village that was submerged and lent its name to the lake when it was expanded. The islands of Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir is housed in this lake. Along the eastern banks of the lake lies the City Palace. A boat ride in the lake around sunset offers a breathtaking view of the Lake and City Palaces.

Bagore-Ki-Haveli is located by Lake Pichola, at Gangaur Ghat. Amar Chand Badwa, the Prime Minister of Mewar, built it in the 18th century. The massive palace has over a hundred rooms that display costumes and modern art. The glass and mirrors in the interiors are structured in classical haveli style. Also, you can enjoy the Folk Dance and Puppet shows every day at 7 pm in Bagor Ki Haveli.

Built by Rana Sangram Singh as a garden for women, Saheliyo-ki-Bari is a popular tourist destination.

This delightful lake, bordered by hills and woodlands, lies to the north of Lake Pichola. This artificial lake is connected to Lake Pichola by a canal.

Situated 7 km west of Udaipur near Lake Fateh Sagar is the Centre's Shilpgram - the Rural Arts and Crafts Complex.

WHERE TO STAY

I will recommend you, please book your hotel in Old city near Lake Pichola. It is the best area to stay as you may walk around easily. Few hotels around Lake Pichola are Jagat Niwas, Kankarwa Haveli, Jaiwana Haveli, Mewar Haveli, Karohi Haveli, Lake Pichola Hotel etc. I have stayed at Jaiwan Haveli, all the major sight seeing points in the old city are within an easy walking distance from Jaiwana Haveli.

HOW TO REACH HERE

By Air: Dabok Airport, also known as Maharana Pratap Airport is the closest at about 25 km northeast of the city center. There are daily flights from Delhi and Mumbai on Jet Airways, Air India, and SpiceJet.
