We zeroed in on Saputara because, our idea of hill stations limits to Khandala, Lonavala or Matheran, which being mumbaikars we have been to more than finger countable times. And wat good is our youth if we can't find a new place to travel to even for the slighest of reasons! So it was a bday boys demand and the group got packing!! The weekend was going to be spent well.
Day 1:
After a not so hectic Friday office hour, we had to board a train to Nasik. We had multiple routes to choose from, but after checking with some friends, via Nasik seemed more suitable. It was a midnight train,00.35 am, and was scheduled to arrive at Nasik at 4am.
We had our share of doubts about the mode of travel from Nasik to Saputara, as bus services would only resume post 8am.
We got down at Nasik railway station and got an autorickshaw to the Mahamarg bus stand from where buses ply to Saputara, which is around 80kms from Nasik.
However we didn't had to sit and waste our precious 3 hours!! As we got an 8 seater all for us for 2k and we reached Saputara by 8.30am and had the whole day to explore this small hill station.
We found a room nearby the lake with the help of a guide, who also arrange for a car to take us to the tourist attractions.
Saputara:
Saputara is a small yet special destination in Gujarat. Reckoned to be the most popular hill station in the state, at Saputara the lush green forests and enchanting waterfalls; the beautiful sunrise and sunset and the consistent salubrious climate accentuate the beauty of the region. It is an excellent place for those who wish to contemplate nature’s beauty; spend cozy moments with a loved one or simply like to be all by themselves.
Saputara is situated in the Dang district of Gujarat. This beautiful hill station is situated at an elevation of about 1000m above sea level. It is located on a plateau in the Dang forest area. The hill retreat is situated about 80kms from Nashik (Maharashtra), 112kms from Bilimora (Gujarat), 172kms from Surat (Gujarat), 280kms from Mumbai (Maharashtra), 300kms from Vadodra (Gujarat) and 420kms from Ahmedabad (Gujarat).

So after covering all these spots, the driver dropped us back to the hotel and it was just 3.30pm. The cab just charged 700rs, which seemed quite fare. We had a quick nap and planned to take a stroll in the evening, to witness the sunset and also go boating at the lake.

We walked around the market place and could sense a joyness in the air.
We settled for a quick dinner at Chitrakoot resto, which offers quite tasty punjabi and gujarati food. The resto has a good ambience to it.
Day 2:
We enquired and found that we have a bus going to Nasik from Saputara bus depot at 10.30am. We book volve tickets for Nasik to Mumbai on redbus and was scheduled at 2.30pm. So we had a couple of hours to kill at the Mahamarg Nasik bus stand. We finished our lunch and shared the pictures with each other, utilizing the time!!
So I would recommend Saputara if u are planning a visit to hill station. It's a good alternative over Matheran, Lovanala, Khandala and the likes of it. Connectivity could be an issues, but if u follow the itienerary above, that should hardly be an issue.
