Why I said need to go again is because u can never ever get to cover the whole of it in one time!!!
That's what Meghalaya is for you!!
Before the trip started I researched for few months and was planning it in the same way others were doing like each day start and end at Shilong,, their came my rescue man!! Man for North East for me Sahid bhai ji.. The trip credit goes completely to him!!
Well The day started from Bhagalpur (Bihar) to njp and then to Guwahati from njp by 🚂.
Then as had time in hand went for pobitra wild life, but it was closed😔.. So to update this century is famous for single horn Rhinos and remains closed from June to oct 1st week due to monsoons(as told by guard).
And then moved to zoo but guwahati zoo are not well maintained, but it's great place for cycling!!!
Stayed at a friendly apartment stay at @1500 per room. Facility to cook was a cake on top and yes 🐔 and sweets were in dinner!! ( no offense for veggies).
So we left that nice stay at 8 in morning by taxi for one of the beautiful place I have ever been to spend a night (will name later) through Shilong.
Had breakfast at the famous Jiva Veg!!! What a start of day with puri sabji n Dosa😋😋.
After that mouthwatering breakfast the first stop was Umiam Lake.. Beautiful, Vast one having small play garden, boating options, great view, and a restaurant!!!
I had a mixed feeling of high charge of Rs. 1000 for boating (whole boat needs to be booked, not per person) this is what I was told by the counter guy!! So skipped but never knew something good was coming on the way!!!
So after spending around a hr or little more left for the famous Elephant falls.. So this was the first waterfall anyone will witness I guess coming from Guwahati!! So it had to be Nice and yes it fulfilled the expectations!!! It was raining as we reached so borrowed umbrellas on rent I. E for ₹30 or₹50 (little confusion) but not more than that!! And now going down to stairs started with the falls being at three levels u need to reach the bottom.. Which we did(a little tough for healthy guy like me, but I am glad I went till last).. In peak monsoons it's Roaring!!!
Climbing back was even more effort taking😔, but anyone can, taking breaks it's not that tough!! Had tea on the shop from where we rented the umbrella and then left for Mawphlang -The sacred Forest..
The drive was surreal, full fog, rain, one way roads up down on hills.. But one great thing no body breaks the line(loved it). Reached around 3,it was so foggy that it was impossible to go for the same and we knew we have to drive another 75 km in hills to visit the place where we need to stay in the night and yes the place was
MAWLYNGBNA ❤
The most beautiful night I ever had!! The Rainy Night as I call it in a very small, less known, still safe from being too commercialized village..
I had all beautiful things around, the rain playing music in the night, the chirping sound of different creatures of night, a true companion finding shelter in rain-could have not asked for anything more---but wait tomorrow morning this place has something more beautiful to offer.. So had food and it's time to say goodnight at 2 in morning!!!
MAWLYNGBNA
So after again a breakfast of Puri sabji(paharo wale ka taste alag hota hai) we left with Batista the go to man for the village, for two hidden beauties one was the activity kayaking in a very beautiful lake..Umkhakoi Lake -Maintained totally by the villagers. All safety measures available.. Really the place was so refreshing, a great start to the day followed by the one I was waiting for -The waterfall trekk.. Uffff halat karab ho gayi but ha jub destination aya to bus samne nazara tha, missed the chance of getting into the waterfall but yes something had to be left to visit this place 'AGAIN'!! The feeling of getting through forest to a waterfall was just out of this world.. A beautiful trekk of around 45 min leads to the hidden gem The Umdiengkain fall!!
The third activity which we skipped was the River trekking leading to the same waterfall.. 'AGAIN'
So said thanks to Batista and after paying very small amount for Rs. 200 per person for boat and ₹600 for trekk (very less for what they offer) we started again to drive to one of the Wettest place Sohra!!!!!!! Here I come!!!
Sohra
The drive to sohra from mawlyngbna was super exciting as well as frightening!!!full foggy weather with rains ,driving in hills with valleys by side was refreshing reached sohra in evening.
Went for local shopping ,food and relaxed with a hope of tomorrow going to be a wonderful day!!!

So the land of waterfalls has many interesting things beyond falls too.
What we visited
Seven sister falls
Nohkalikai falls
Garden of caves
Mawsmai caves
Eco park(origin of seven sisters)
And yes we left to Dawki next day.....
Will stop here so that my next trip to NE has a past story to relate with..
