Mcleodganj is situated at the altitude of 2082 mtrs with the distance of 7Km from Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. It is the nearest town to the Dhauladhar Range with large number of tibetans. It is known as "Little Lhasa" or "Dhasa" because of its large population of Tibetans. The Tibetan government-in-exile is headquartered in McLeod Ganj.
It also attracts a large number of international tourists & many of them volunteer with the Tibetan community, taking courses in Buddhism, meditation or yoga, trekking, shopping for Tibetan crafts, or just hanging out enjoying the cool vibe of the town and the plethora of good cafes.
Dharamshala is connected to most of the major cities like Delhi and Chandigarh by Bus and from there one can get Bus to Mcleodganj.
I spent two days here and I visited
1) Dalai Lama Temple
2) St. John in the Wilderness Church
3) Triund Trek
4) Dharamkot Village
The proximity of Dhauladhar Range and the connectivity with major cities of Mcleodganj makes it a perfect weekend escape into the majestic Himalayas with the flavor of Tibetan Culture.
I completely love this place and it was my third time when I enjoyed it.
Thanks……...Wish You Happy & Safe Journey too.
