Day 1

After 25 years of friendship, we finally decided to take a trip to my hometown of Dehradoon. However, while looking for travel options and keeping our budget in mind, the best and cheapest route for us was to fly from Mumbai to Delhi; our flight was Go First, which we booked through Goibibo. Our one-way ticket without an in-flight meal cost Rs.2,500/-, and the morning 6:00 a.m. train from New Delhi to Dehradun cost Rs.600/-. While looking for direct Mumbai-Dehradun flights, we discovered that it would cost us 5,500/- per person, so we decided to stop in Delhi for 1N 2D before continuing on to Dehra.

We arrived at the airport around 6:00 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. flight because my friend and I wanted to take advantage of the free airport meals. My friend had multiple airport lounge access cards, and thanks to her and the good cards, both of us ate a really good breakfast for Rs.2 per person:) We then hung out at the airport until our flight arrived, snapped some photos, recorded some videos to make reels for Instagram, and stalked other passengers. Finally, boarding announcements for our flight were made, and boarding began.

Unless you already have points with other travel apps or an airline miles card, always use the Skyscanner app and book in incognito mode when booking flights. Our flight was pleasant; I spent the time talking to my friend about our plans, reading my book, and occasionally peering out the window to take in the scenery.

We arrived in Delhi at 12:15 p.m. and checked into the Hotel Bright in Cannaught Palace, which we had reserved. When we saw the pictures of the hotel and hotel room on the booking app, it looked decent and the lowest price in the central location, but when we arrived, the entrance to the hotel was a little shady and the room pathetic, we had to ask for a change of room because the first one that we were given had a leaking bathroom. I didn't feel safe if it was just a woman or two women, so I wouldn't recommend that hotel for women's safety. The only positive aspect of the hotel was its location.

After we checked into the hotel and rested, we set out to see the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. Spiritual places like these will always bring peace to the chaos in your heart and mind. We sat for about an hour, just soaking in the vibe and calm of the place. We then left to eat lunch at Chor Bizzare, Bikaner House. If you want to eat here, you must make reservations in advance because the restaurant is usually booked up on weekends. We finished our delicious lunch and then my friend went to meet her group of friends, while I went to our hotel for an afternoon nap.

After a good afternoon nap, I met my cousin and went for a walk with him around cannaught place. We ate delicious non-vegetarian food at Nazim's, which was right behind my hotel. My cousin suggested it, and I'm glad I went because it had a very good non-vegetarian taste and variety of dishes. If you are staying at Cannaught Palace, you must try this restaurant the next time you visit.

Post our foodie session I decided to take tours in different metro lines of Delhi and then we took the smart card pass recharged it for Rs.300/- and for approximately 3 hours we spent in Metro journey's changing between the colourful lines. You might think I'm crazy for doing this, but it was a lot of fun for me. If you want to, you can find many different small, medium, and large stories on your train journey, such as a girlfriend talking romantically with her boyfriend, a boy narrating his day to his mother who is in hometown while missing her presence around him, a child innocently playing with anyone who might genuinely entertain him with an open heart, and so on.

They best mtero ride was from New Delhi Airport Station to Rajiv Gandhi Station. Then we went shopping at the Lajpat Nagar market. I wouldn't recommend any other market than Sarojinin in Delhi for street market shopping nothing else is worth it. I only bought one fur payjama from Lajpat Nagar Market for Rs.250/- and ate pani puri:)

Then, around 8:30 p.m., I returned to my hotel room to change into my party outfit before heading to Tamasha with my friends, where we danced a lot to Bollywood songs, drank some Teacher's, ate a feast on my way back to the hotel room, and then jumped off on my bed for a good night's sleep.

Day 2

I awoke around 8:30 a.m., and my friend and I decided to meet at the Qutub Minar Metro Station for a little Delhi sightseeing. From the metro station we took a share auto to Qutub Minar and then booked the entry tickets online. Because it was a Sunday, the moment area was pretty crowded.

After entering the historic monument, we explored the sides and overheard a guide explaining the historical background to another group, saving us guide tips and fees. We spent about an hour sightseeing, taking photos and videos. We then left Qutub Minar to go to Hauz Khaz Village for brunch at Hauz Khas Socials, where we took a direct auto. Unfortunately, Hauz Khas socials had closed during the lockdown, so we went to Elma's Bakery Kitchen, which is a sort of English Bakery Breakfast Cafe.

Despite the fact that this small little food joint was pricey, I gave all of the dishes we ordered a 9 out of 10. It was truly delicious.

After refuelling our bodies, we proceeded to our next destination, "Sarojini Market," where we made the fatal error of going shopping on a Sunday. Despite the fact that the market was extremely crowded, I was able to purchase 9 sweaters, 1 denim short, 1 fur jacket and 2 denim jackets for a total of Rs.1200/- only. Amazing fabric quality and shell life, thousands of options for all types of people and almost any fashion. If you are in Delhi, you must visit this market.

After 5 hours of shopping, we took the metro back to our hotel for some foot and body rest and an evening cup of kadak adrak chai. We rested in our hotel room for about 2 hours before changing into our party attire and going to Lord of the Rings for some drinks, then to another restaurant for dinner with my friend, and finally back to our hotel room to call it a night and end our Day 2.

We awoke at 5:00 a.m., got ready, and left for New Delhi Station. This station was only a 5-minute ride away from our hotel. We boarded our 6:00 a.m. train to Dehradun, and I'm on my way to my hometown:)

Delhi - Dehradun : Gn. Shatabdi Express - Rs.600/- per person. Starts at 6:00 am and touches Dehradun at 12:25 pm.

Thank you so much for making my journey and experience possible. I'll write about my Dehra experience for you next.
