32 people , from different parts of India , came together with just one mission in their mind - to reach the summit of Kedarkantha (A Peak in the Garhwal Range of Himalayas). The journey from Sankri, Uttarakhand to the summit was mesmerizing. The strenuous trail passing through the woods with tall pine trees, the frozen Juda-Ka-Talab and extreme low temperatures at Kedarkantha Base Camp result in the hypnotizing beauty of the Himalayas at the summit.

We all reached Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand , India and took a cab to Sankri to reach our starting point.
The way to sankri runs along the clear blue waters of tons and the yamuna river . One gets a glimpse of Himalays on reaching close to Sankri.The number of trekkers heading to Himalayas have given a lot of employment opportunities to the local residents . On the other hand, the environmental balance is getting disturbed.The trail from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab passes through the woods with tall,old and beautiful pine trees and takes around 4 hours. Snow is all around and you are surrounded with massive peaks. The Landscape is breathtaking.
The Juda Ka Talab is a very scenic camp site located in the capacity of a National Park. The Lake freezes in winters and the temperature can get as low as -15 degree celsius. The camp site is pretty big and provides space for group activites. It can get windy at times. And beware of the foxes at night .If you are lucky and the sky is clear, there is a very good chance that you will see lot of brights stars and milky ways. Juda Ka Talab with its scenic location is a very good place to get some star trails.
If you want to sleep like a baby in the lap of Himalayas , there is no place better than this. Serenity and calmness define this place and you can get into inner soul searching . The temperature can get as low as -20 degree celsius at night.
While coming down from the Summit to the Hargaon Base Camp, the steepness of the trail works in your favour and one can easily run or slide down the snow.The Sunrise and sunset at the base camp are beautiful. The peaks are lit like candles and the aura is magnetizing.
The Trail to Kedarkantha is pretty strenuous and is steep at places. You are in the middle of white desert. Gators are must if you are trekking in the snow for the first time. The scenery on the way to the summit is mesmerizing and you can never get enough it.A 360 degree view of the Himalayan Garhwal Range , winds blowing at 70 kmph and the Shiva Trishul define this place. You are literally on top of the world and cities like shimla and delhi look like small dots. That said, you need to be here for the experience.
