There are few options of luxurious resorts and many simple and quiet homestays here. One can choose as per their budget and choice. The important point to note is do make a prebooking to avoid unnecessary trouble. We booked our stay at KVMN guest house financed by govt of India, tourism department
The guest house itself is a tourist spot spread in a huge area located at the very prime location. It provides you options from delux rooms to Royal cottage at the value for money price, you can choose your stay as per your choice but make sure you made a booking one to two months in advance.
Day 1 at Kausani
We reached kathgodam in the morning and get a car to reach our guest house at Kausani. It was a 5 hours drive through the mountains and the breath taking early morning view outside was a treat to eyes and soul.
The sky was crimson red and the mountains were Iluminiting in the morning sunshine. Cool breeze was blowing and its aura was intoxicating. We reached our guest house at 11am in the morning and enjoyed the brunch at KMVN restaurant at 12pm. We spend the afternoon at the cottage relaxing and enjoying the stunning views outside our window.
In the evening we trek to the Anashakti Aashram located at a distance of 3-4 km from our guest house.
The place is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation who once visited the place back in 1929 and was so overwhelmed with the pristine beauty of the place that he called it the "Switzerland of India". The aashram has a small prayer Hall and a lovely collection of photographs from the life of gandhiji. We enjoyed the enchanting sunset view, when the sun slowly sinks behind the mountains and the sky changes its colour, the beauty of the view is beyond words.
We trek back to our guest house. It was such a romantic walk I can say "a walk to remember" holding hands we were walking through the mountains, listening to the melody of birds, capturing the beautiful shades of sky and mighty Himalayas, it was such a treat for all the senses.
We reached our cottage at 7pm in the evening and spend some lazy time outside our cottage. We had dinner at the KMVN restaurant and spend some more time outside our cottage. It was 9 pm absolutely quiet and we could the whole galaxy of stars outside, the shooting stars, the constellations and the moon. With the glasses of wine in our hand sitting beside each other we were talking about the beauty of the place and how lucky we are to have each other.
Day 2 at kausani
We woke up early in the morning at 5 am to get the beautiful sunrise view.
Tea was served at our cottage only. We had tea and get ready to trek to the tea garden, 6km from our guest house in the foothills. The plantation here is not that great at compared to Darjeeling and other South Indian tea gardens but it draws the attention of tea lovers. We had breakfast at a local shop and booked a car to visit Baijnath temple, 20 km from kausani. The Baijnath temple is located adjacent to Baijnath barrage, the 12th century rock temples is dedicated to Lord shiva is a spectacular architectural work.
We feed the fishes here and spend some quality time. We had lunch at shivalik restaurant while returning to our guest house and spend the evening at the kausani only, the romantic evening at a place where romance is in the air. It is the perfect destination to have some beautiful memories surrounded by beauty of nature.
What to shop
If you are a Shopoholic you will be little disappointed as the place is not commercialized there is no such market where you can buy sovereign but there are few shops selling Himalayan fruit products. We bought the Rhododendron jam and squash. Rhododendron is a flower found at a height of 4000-8000 feet in Himalayan region and has many health benefits.
