Uttarakhand- a mesmerising state in Northern India has been on the traveller's list in the last few years for its breathtaking views, pilgrimages, pahadi cuisines, national parks, adventure activities and, a lot more.
To give tourism a boost in the state, the Central and State Government has been making efforts to launch various programmes and develop infrastructure for easier connectivity.
Now, the state is set to get its first Vande Bharat Express train today- May 23, 2023. The train will be virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister at 11 am. The first run will be from Delhi (Anand Vihar)- Dehradun. The state of Uttarakhand will have its entire rail route 100% electrified.
The regular run of the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express will start on May 29, according to the Indian Railways website.
Consisting of eight coaches, the train offers two types of chair car options. The train has also been equipped with advanced safety features including the Kavach technology.
What are the train timings ?
Covering a distance of 302 km in 4 hour and 45 minutes, the train will run on all days except Wednesday.
Train number 22457 will depart from Anand Vihar railway station in Delhi at 17:50 hrs and will reach Dehradun at 22:35 hrs.
Train number 22458 will depart from Dehradun at 7:00 hrs and reach the Anand Vihar terminal at 11:45 hrs.
Stoppages in between are Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee and Haridwar.

What is the fare to be paid?
The fare for an AC chair car will cost Rs 1,065 and Rs 1,890 for an executive chair car.
The Vande Bharat Express will be running at a speed of 100km/ hr and gain in speed in 52 seconds.
As per reports, the railways introduced six Vande Bharat Express trains on various routes, including Rani Kamlapati-Hazrat Nizamuddin, Secunderabad-Tirupati, Chennai-Coimbatore, Ajmer-Delhi Cantt, Thiruvananthapuram Central-Kasaragod, and Howrah-Puri rail routes this financial year.
