India’s Northeast region is set to receive its first Vande Bharat Express travelling from Guwahati in Assam to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal by the end of this month, according to the North Eastern Railway.

The train (Up-22227-Down-22228) is expected to cover a distance of 411 km in 5:50 hours at a speed of 70.46 kmph. The train will ply for six days a week, except Tuesday. This is faster than the Rajdhani Express which takes 6:35 hours to complete the route.

TIME TABLE

The tentative timetable of the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express has been released. The Northeast’s first Vande Bharat Express will start from new Jalpaiguri at 6:10 am and reach Guwahati at 12 pm.

On the return journey, it will start from Guwahati at 4:30 pm and reach New Jalpaiguri at 10:20 pm.

The tentative route of the New Jalpaiguri Guwahati Vande Bharat Express is as follows:

• New Jalpaiguri

• New Alipuduar

• Kokrajhar

• New Bongaigaon

• Kamakhya

• Guwahati

The Guwahati Vande Bharat Express will be the first chair car train on the route from New Jalpaiguri.

The Vande Bharat Express has just two travel categories, namely, AC Chair Car and Executive Car. The tickets of these categories may overlap with the Rajdhani tickets in terms of pricing.

The fastest train between the two stations is the Rajdhani Express. The charges are as follows:

• First AC Rs 1,400

• Second AC Rs 1,840

• Third AC Rs 2,310

• It is equipped with regenerative braking which saves up to 30 per cent energy.

• The train usually comes with 16 rakes equipped with vacuum toilets similar to the ones seen on airplanes.

• LCD screens are deployed to notify passengers.

• Executive coaches are equipped with swivel seats to change the orientation of the seating in the direction of the training.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "PM Modi has a set target that Vande Bharat should reach almost all the states by June. Vande Metro is being designed for a distance of less than 100km and for daily travel of passengers."
