We all, travel enthusiasts, must have dreamed of traveling around India at some point of our life. The reason is simple, India is incredibly diverse and beautiful. It is a complete world in itself, it has almost everything I guess, mighty Himalayas, the vast plains and fields, exciting cultures, traditions and festivals, so many long and wide rivers flowing all through its states, desert, a very very long coastal line and what not.

I got into traveling in 2016 during my hostel days and this passion kept growing in the following 2-3 years. So after traveling through many regions of Himachal, Ladakh and Kashmir for a couple of years, in 2019 I decided to go on the journey of my life: all around India on bicycle.

Many people have asked me "why on bicycle?", my answer is, I love bicycle as a mode of traveling, its my favorite vehicle because it is eco friendly, health friendly, it gives me an opportunity to travel in a slow manner which further gives me freedom and time to observe and explore every place, terrain and culture I cross through.

So till now I have traveled over 23,000 Kms through 22 States/UTs of India, from Ladakh to Kanyakumari, from Rann of Kutch to Kolkata, mainly Northeast and a couple of cental Indian states are left. Currently I am in Uttarakhand, on my trans-himalayan tour from Ladakh to Arunachal via Spiti-Uttarakhand-Nepal-Sikkim, and after reaching Arunachal I will complete the remaining part of Northeast.

Many ask me how I manage the travel expenses, so let me explain. I travel as a minimalist, bicycle doesn't need petrol so transportation is sorted, I sleep in dhabas, in the open by the road, on footpaths also at times, on beaches in the open, many times locals give me food and shelter, so basically I sleep anywhere, I also carry a tent. Now food is the only thing I have to manage, in that I prefer to eat at cheap roadside dhabas or stalls or small tea shops, many times some of them don't charge me for a meal, sometimes locals offer me food so its going like that. When I started I had some savings of some 25k which lasted for some months, my everything except bicycle got stolen in Goa, so after that my friends started supporting me. Beside all this I have met many people on the way who voluntarily helped me with money, and if I am in an emergency I call a close friend. Now my Youtube channel is ready to monetise and I am hopeful that it will fetch me enough to continue my journey around India and beyond.

During this journey I have been to so many amazing places across our country, met some really wonderful people, have experienced great hospitality across different states and made some friends for a lifetime. I don't know when and where this journey will end, I dream of traveling the world on my bicycle and I hope one day I will be able to fulfill this dream also like I have lived the dream of traveling India. Here I am sharing some of the amazing places I have visited during this journey, and if you wish to connect with my journey, you can connect via Instagram and Youtube, my profile and channel name is The Young Monk.
