Incredible South India - 4 nights in Coorg & Wayanad

Tripoto

This is the story of my experience in South India with the thought of exploring places. However, I feel those number of days were not enough. So here I start.

Day 1 – Wayanad

Killing time until boarding the flight.

13th Aug 2022 - 6.30 am Air India flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Kozhikode International airport. We reached at around 3.30 am, did the needful for boarding and some clicks and few reels. People say I am pretty expressive, I am sure you can see sleep in my eyes. Within 2 hrs, we were at the Kozhikode airport, and our chauffeur was waiting for us.

While on our way to the resort, our chauffeur took us to Thusharagiri waterfalls, a beautiful combination of 4 waterfalls, which was not in the plan. In a coastal state, finding a veg restaurant was pretty challenging until we found "Ramavilasam vegetarian hotel.'' See below:

Our stay for 2 nights was in Vythiri Village Resort in Vythiri, Wayanad, a 5-star in Wayanad. I couldn't afford it, tried my best to get cheaper deals, and I got one. Vythiri Village is a vast property with various activities like zip lining, a hanging bridge, an infinity swimming pool, etc.

Evening orchestra, artificial river ( you can't do river rafting), and affordable rooms as cheap as 5000/- per room per night during peak season.

Day 2 : Wayanad Local Sightseeing

After breakfast, we were heading to 900 Kandi Glass Bridge for some exciting activities, but not prepared for some 12 km to and fro off-roading and hell lot of patience to stand in the queue, may be for hours.

I waited for around 3 hours to pose with my Dad. NEVER LOSE HOPE was the only one thing going in my mind waiting to get on this Glass Bridge.

However, apart from Glass bridge and Giant Jhula, there are no. of activities you would enjoy. An adult will get his/her child from within.

I loved the backdrop than the glass bridge

Our next stop was Chasam Ayurvedic and spices garden. If you are the one, who is interested in ayurvedic, and understanding properties of spices , then this is the place for you. However, I am not that kind so photos is the best I could do.

After some extensive ayurvedic shopping, we plan to return back to our resort. Nothing but eat and sleep was on our to-do list

Day 3: Coorg

On the way to Coorg from Wayanad, where we visited Wayanad Tea Plantation factory, which is known for producing high quality tea and learnt the history of Boston Tea Party (it was definitely not a party) and Banasura Sagar dam, a tributary of Kabini River.

Although I know i am the highlight in the pic, but Behind me is Banasura Sagar Dam. Worth visiting. Great for kids too.

We stayed in The Yellow Bamboo resort. Almost 35 kms Far from city. We were not aware about it. Not to complain here, the journey to the resort was really beautiful. Forest, coffee plantations, the journey within the nature was remarkable and forever memorable. I would recommend Yellow Bamboo, if only you are travelling for leisure and not too much interested in sightseeing. However, if you have minimum 3- 4 days in Coorg, then sightseeing can be justified.

Day 4 - Coorg

You wont hear Coorg from local's mouth nor they would react. Its Kodagu/ Madikeri for them. We enjoyed our buffet breakfast and headed towards Dubare Elephant Camp.

After lunch at pure veg restaurant which were rare to find, we started for Abbi falls. Oh ho ho, mind blowing experience. I loved it, not too sure others would. What mesmerized me, was the sound of the falls.

While on the way to the hotel, we come across Kodagu Coffee Growers Co-operative Society Ltd. Recommend to visit here.

For coffee lovers.

You can also visit Raja seat ( which is just a normal park), Omkareshwar temple, Mangalpatti jeep safari. I missed those places as I did not have enough time.

Day 5 - Departure

Our departure was from Kempegowda International airport, Bengaluru. We left early as the flight was by late afternoon and the travel will take time. I am closing here.

I am sure this itinerary will definitely help to make your travel plan to Coorg and Wayanad. Hope this was worth your time. Thank you for reading.
