View of the Olakkanesvara Temple (aka Lighthouse Temple) premises from the Lighthouse. Built around 640 CE during the reign of Pallava king Rajasimha, the lighthouse is India's oldest lighthouse and the temple/lighthouse is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984.

Built in 8th century AD, the Shore Temple overlooking the shore of the Bay of Bengal, is a magnificent development during Pallava Dynasty and a classic example of Dravidian architecture.
